I was given 500 shares in 1988 in Eurotunnel. For a number years they were pretty worthless, other than the free travel allowance on Eurotunnel once a year for 10 years. In 2007 Eurotunnel merged with tnu sa and around 2010 Tnu plc merged to make Groupe Eurotunnel se. I was paid off by the new consortium on the basis of not having enough shares and was paid the pricely sum of £9.34 in total. A lot of original shareholders in Eurotunnel lost out of even receiving the basis payout as they failed to register their interest in 2007. No regress.
In my case the free travel exceeded the value of the original share purchase- so cannot grumble.
Good luck with your investments.
