Good observation. Investec, another promotion to the FTSE100 when the new season starts on June 22 finished down 3.26% today. computer centre faired better. Rejoining the FT100 is a welcome achievement, especially for a business operating in the financial services sector where credibility is so important. I am expecting them to rise steadily towards results but for now, i am also happy to take what looks to be a safe 6% dividend. Not long ago, the concern was that the dividend would likely need to be cut but if momentum is confirmed in June, then the next change is likely to be upward. Probably 2028 payments.

Tracker funds always buy before inclusion into the index, and traders know it so they piggy back off of that and take a profit after, but as important the market is down and Asset Managers are operationally geared into falling and rising markets in terms of profits impact.

That’s my take as well. Placed 85th, they are positioned to rejoin the FTSE 100 on June 22 when the June qtr reshuffle takes effect. At 2.6%, shorts are the lowest they have been in years. Not long ago, Aberdeen was one of the most shorted companies on the exchange. I am also expecting the price to steadily rise as funds rebalance their portfolios. They should also rise in anticipation of what are likely to be a good set of half year results; to be announced towards the end of July.
