There is a simple solution, have 2 heat pumps.
The biggest one on the market is 14kwh, I needed 17kwh so my installer put 2 in, it’s not difficult.
Our property is a 6 bed detached similar size, admittedly fortunately I gutted the ground floor and put UF heating excavating 40 tonnes, which has worked well as heat pumps are extremely efficient for UF heating. The property is 90 years old and SWMBO moans when it drops below 24c, I have saved close to 5 figures on heating over the past 12 months.
You can be blinkered to the future thats fine, it can cost you as well, no problem, but Rishi bowing to party pressure on the minuscule hope he can turn the Uxbridge south by election nationwide is just that…… a faint hope.
Every car manufacturer is preparing for EVs Rishi’s u turn is pure desperation from a politician who should never have been prime minster in the first place
If we're running to the same corporate calendar, next week should see the release of the MD&A and final results for last year.
They will not contain anything dramatic, but buried in the detail may be some answers to various outstanding questions.
Why would it correct bring to being
Why does auto correct correct a word that is a valid word? I don’t get this nutty tech
Personally I’d like Mather to return as CEO. When he was at the wheel this ran from 2p to 45
Subsequent CEOs have brought lack of direction, lack of news and general slide in share price
Being Mather back being news back let us get out!
Padmaster and several others spent 8 years doting on mathers picture on the wall, berating any who didn't bow to the messiah.
Eventually all but padmaster saw he wasn't the man they thought, and voted him out.
Are we to let the likes of adikt, dbw, fort and one or two others, with their leave things as they are views take us down the the same 8 year path mather took us.
645 posters now think solg board needs shaking up. For reasons blind freddy can even see.
3 posters adikt, dbw and fort, say leave things as they are.
I wonder who maybe right. Mmmmm let me think.
Maybe we could have a crowd fund to by 3 shovels to dig their heads out of the sand.
But the building needs insulation due to solid walls. That will take cost above the pump price. I know because I’ve checked my house as we are off the gas grid too!
From octopus just now
Dear
Thanks for putting your name down for an octopus energy heat pump!
Based on your property size and heating needs, I’m afraid we’re not quite ready to install a heat pump in your home just yet. It looks like you may require a larger heat pump or a more customised design than we offer right now
No brainer? They won’t even install one in my reasonably modest 500 square metre 6 bed detached
Aquinaga thats not true, with the new subsidiary octopus energy will replace your gas boiler, with a heat pump. Replace your radiators, replace your immersion heater for a smart immersion heater.
Rip out and dispose of your gas boiler all for under 4k wigh subsidy.
It's a no brainer.
Of course our most unintelligent poster on here won't go for it, as he's really not that bright.
With respect Aquinaga, we can’t subsidise everything
People have got to understand that government doesn’t have money it just spends our money. So whether we spend it ourselves or do it via subsidies it’s our money being thrown at this nonsense
It’s not the cost of the heat pump that is the main problem. It’s the cost of extra insulation and a new radiator system if you live in a building with solid walls. That will cost more than the pump. Grants are needed for older buildings.
I have serious concerns about apples auto incorrect
How can vastly ever be corrected to asylum?
Or “it ha” for without
Who programs this thing? Bloody woke idiots?
If you’ve got no brain then yes it is. Huge subsidy on something asylum more expensive than a gas boiler that people still won’t take up. Sunak knows this.
Picture the scenario In five years time. You’re unlucky and your £3k boiler packs up or you’re unlucky and your £13k heat pump packs up
Which one would you rather replace with it ha subsidy?
Just listened to the Rishi Sunak speech.
Government grant for heat pumps are no longer £5,000 they are now £7,500.
It was a no brainer before.
*sure
But sore too
£60k for ten years is £6k a year with zero sell on value cos the battery’s fooked
Exactly, via a subsidy. Without subsidies nobody would be buying EVs, and with subsidies everybody is paying through the nose for them.
I reiterate, if these things weee financially viable they’d be flying out of showrooms on their own.
If you have to subsidise or legislate something, you can be sore it’s a terrible idea.
Somehow I doubt it, when you can get a £60k E-tron for the same price as a ST Focus, via salary sacrifice, I know which one sensible customers are choosing.
You carry on believing the rubbish you want to, whilst others make huge savings whilst carrying on as normal……
OT have a look at what NM and IH are doing elsewhere... (Slide 4). Obviously hedging their bets and it wouldn't surprise me if it outperforms here...

In any case Nick is hedging his bets...as well as being a NED, he is also NED of Clara Resources (alongside Brian Moller - remember him?), which owns 22.6% of 1SN.
He is of course CEO of DGR Global, which not only owns 6.8% of SOLG but also 12.3% of Clara Resources (.i.e. therefore 2.8% of 1SN)
Finally, Ingo is also the recently appointed CFO of Lifezone Metals, following his stint as CEO of Omicron...
Enjoy the distraction from the tumbleweed here...
Ends.
All the idiots who bought sixty grand milk floats are crying into their green shakes. Hilarious
Fort ….. all we ever got was details to follow
1 trade at 4pm.
We all know what that means. It's the law. Never fails. Oh yes. Sure as eggs is eggs. Sure thing. Is it true? Is the pope Catholic? Does Quady sh+t in the woods?
DBW... do you know (or have we been told) what performance criteria Scott needs to meet to justify those awards. I keep hearing that there was supposed to be somekind of alignment or targets being publicised but I haven't seen anything? Buried in the MD&A somewhere perhaps? If I recall... the options have been granted... end of.
I have no problem with options as long as they are ambitious and performance related
But that's exactly what he's going to do Fort, and despite the fighting talk, there's nothing you or I can do about it.
Aand another one for the bin....
