Agreed DBW, but my point has been to point out why this cannot happen while the book remains so diverse. Also we have used Citi to protect us from low bids and the Franco Nevada offtake agreement was inspired to say the least.
We need more resilience now not less.
Montecristo:
"Everyone got that Jezzoo, but most believe it to be smoke and mirrors"
And so do I,
Sorry if my post sounded like I was preaching to the choir. I wasn't.
What we really need is a third party to openly show some interest
I’ve never said we couldn’t take this to production, I’ve simply said we won’t.
Problem is we can finance this in many ways and BHP / NCM are aware of this ….. on the flip side we don’t want to and BHP / NCM are also fully aware of this ….. game of cat and mouse
That's were we disagree DBW. We have to have the ability to take this to production. Remember we had a NCM representative on the BOD.
So NCM know wherever we can go to production alone.
Jezzoo
Of course I agree we have always had to move the project forward not just sit and wait….. the point is it’s been fairly obvious for years that our ultimate aim was never to single-handedly take this to production…… just keep adding value and removing as much risk as possible to induce the best offer ….. whether it be a takeover or a minority stake in a JV
Jezzoo, that's what most of us have been saying for years. It's a line the company HAS to trot out. One or two have chosen to take it at face value and tried to ridicule and belittle those who suggested otherwise.
At least now we have one of our biggest shareholders and former CEO saying quite clearly on the record that the plan is for SOLG to be taken over by a major.
Did NM basically put the for sale sign up on solg?
Everyone got that Jezzoo, but most believe it to be smoke and mirrors
Actually, Quady's last post makes sense in the round, even if production was never really the goal you have to say that otherwise the majors would just wait around like a committee of vultures waiting for you to run out of money.
NM clearly states the plan is for a major to take over. Someone tell him about the diverse book please
SM, it's black and white to most people, but not all.
DBW although we are at opposite sides of the spectrum on who we call friends.
I cannot disagree with your last post apart from the part that says we can't go it alone.
Think about it.
If we can't go it alone then BHP and others will just wait and get us on the cheap.
It's the fact that we can do this alone that means this will have a good outcome for investors.
It has always been the case. Someone just needs to stump up the cash, or we proceed to production.
At the moment no one is stumping up the cash, so we proceed to production.
Most pi’s invest in these companies for the exploration buzz ( not all I know ) and that’s what’s been missing for some time.
My guess is that any fear of a low ball raise at these levels is completely unfounded.
We could well get taken out but my ideal scenario is that we retain an interest in Cascabel as we are so firmly entrenched there with the community now and we’ve come this far. We are then fully funded to go and uncover some of our other tier 1 hidden gems.
Going it alone is simply not an option and realistically never has been
"So we start with ideas and raw targets, we're grass roots explorers, and we set these up in companies which get financed, get listed. Some of them are merged quicker than others. But the basic idea and the model that we've been following successfully for some years, is to create companies around very, very large resource projects, and then ultimately majors seem to take them over. That's certainly the plan in respect of SolGold."
Black and white.

Really interesting all this
Nick getting impatient and moving things along ?
Addicknt we have been here before, you were completely wrong about the cashbox offer, and your making the same mistake again.
Didn't sound nuanced to me.
Very interesting video DBW he clearly states that the plan for Solgold is for it to merge.
This does not exclude going to production.
Many on here think one excludes the other it doesn't.
NM has clearly said we proceed towards production unless we get an offer which represents value.
However I have noted the nuanced change in language.
We wait and see.
He says DGR would look to do a scrip deal and take BHP Newcrest or any acquiring companies shares instead of cash to not cause a capital gains tax event for DGR.
Jeez! What the hell are you talking about? You've apparently spent 40 years being a world beating investor and yet you don't know the first thing about when announcements have to be made.
Even Q must agree ….. Nick has said it so it must be true ?
Porvenirial thanks
When it comes to being taken over by a major
“That’s certainly the plan in the case of Solgold “
Couldn’t be clearer
Addicknt you are not reading what I said, the event's posted by me would require an RNS after the event not before. A takeover or bid would require one before the event took place.
It's really easy if you read and don't impose your world view on every observation I make.
Your becoming rather tiresome.
Q, yet again you are obfuscating and have refused to accept that your post was 100% wrong. Just re-read what you said at 8:37. And what the flying f**k has the cash box raise got to do with anything? It is of no relevance whatsoever to the current discussion.
