Sorry DinnerMoney, but it was announced as the best way to advance Cascabel.
I suspect that people like DBW and Redknight say that the strategic review will never happen, because it doesn't suit their argument or mindset.
But otherwise everyone on here knows it's about the best way to advance Cascabel.
Morning Darren since 2015 it has always been solgolds stated aim to bring Alpala to production.
Let's see what the strategic review says, as this is about the best way to advance Cascabel.
Monte ,I wouldn't touch a single mine in Argentina ,full of political disputes ,strikes , disruption and corruption ,taxed to the hilt
Fort hello. I agree completely !
DK
Q. I have never agreed with your opinion to be honest, it is quite the contrario to mine. But nothing wrong with that. I respect your perspective but simply disagree! Whichever way this goes I just hope we can all get a good exit!

Go to the SOLG website, look at latest presentation, page 5. Just look how massive Alpala is. Even Porvenir features on that list among discoveries from Rio Tinto and others.
Agree - SOLG are fundamentally an explorer and you've got another great asset there building in Porvenir. But all these exploration projects require derisking before you can flog it. To get best price you need to get a couple MRE's out and a PEA. PFS would be nice but not always required for early stage sale.
So being an outright explorer also includes some project development/planning stages. They take time and money.
But no one should underestimate the size of SOLG's prize asset. Not many like it on this planet.
Q that has always been my gripe with this company, dont pretend to be something you are not! Accept what you are, and they are good explorers! Explore, find and sell or JV !! Thats why I invested, it remains to be seen if that will happen.
Anyway all the best to everyone sincerely.

Hi Q. But wouldnt you accept such an offer for Cascabel? LEt whoever have it, and lwe can move on as an exploration company?
DK
Darren they might pay one or two billion if we were constructing.
But not for nothing.
They would want the whole of Alpala for that price in our current state.
Morning all. Just a thought, if Newmont are sucessful with18 or maybe 20billiom bid for Newcrest they would inheret 10 percent of solgold? Surely they could then chuck another 1 or 2 b at solgold!! Get in line behind the many others!!

Thanks Monte
I posted the article mainly because of what it said about the copper.
It's amazing the amount of people I talk to (not including this board) who believe they are up to date with what's happening in the green space, yet have no idea about the connection with metals and mining.
Every interview I watch with a mining executive or a fund manager, they are almost falling over themselves explaining this but there seems very little understanding in the wider community.
Monte that article is misleading.
It mentions Cobalt.
No new battery technology in the next few years will require Cobalt.
We will be creating longer lasting batteries with higher current capabilities and Cobalt cannot be part of the mix.
Lithium will also be reduced it batteries, but is necessary for the Lithium cap, which allows electrons to flow in reverse faster when charging.
Yes Copper still required.

The race for electric vehicle (EV) battery metals is heating up.
Automakers can’t go green without having sufficient quantities of the lithium, nickel, and cobalt that make the batteries work.
SIGN UP FOR THE BATTERY METALS DIGEST
Fear of missing out, quite literally, is generating an industry-wide shift to investing directly in the mining sector to ensure future supplies of battery inputs.
General Motors Co has announced a $650-million investment in Lithium Americas Corp to help fund the development of the Thacker Pass project in Nevada.
GM gets exclusive rights to 40,000 tonnes per year of lithium from a domestic mine, which is key to qualifying for the EV subsidies available under the Inflation Reduction Act.
Carmakers have already been busy tying up supplies of battery metals under direct off-take agreements with existing metals producers.
Now they are getting into the business of actually digging the mines, or at least helping with the finance.
The investment rush has until now largely played out in the lithium sector but French-Italian carmaker Stellantis has just pivoted into copper with an investment in an Argentinian project.
Copper pivot
Stellantis, the third largest automotive group by sales, will pay $155 million for a 14.2% stake in McEwen Copper, a subsidiary of Canada’s McEwen Mining, which owns the Los Azules project in Argentina.
The deposit, ranked in the top 10 global undeveloped copper resources by Mining Intelligence, is expected to yield 100,000 tonnes per year of the refined cathode from its anticipated start date in 2027.
The automaker’s investment comes with an option to purchase the mine’s output at a ratio equivalent to its equity ownership.
With the help of existing shareholder Nuton, a subsidiary of Rio Tinto, and its copper leaching technology, McEwen is aiming to make the mine carbon-neutral by 2038, adding to the project’s green credentials.
Copper is an often forgotten component of EV batteries, but it plays a critical role as a current collector. All battery chemistries require copper, albeit to varying degrees. Lithium-iron-phosphate batteries, a burgeoning part of the EV market, need around 50% more copper than nickel-manganese-cobalt, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).
Outside of the battery pack copper is also used in the electric motor, the busbar, and in what can be up to a mile of internal wiring.
The amount of copper used in a typical battery electric vehicle is 83 kilograms, compared with just 23 kilograms in an internal combustion vehicle, according to the International Copper Association.
Fear of falling short
Stellantis’ leap upstream in the copper processing chai
A by the way, I did not make a bet on it raining in the sahara.
I made an investment in a junior exploration company that had a blueprint to find, sell and explore.
The next major in the making was not on the table in 2013 when I invested a not immaterial amount.
No-one asked me about the change in strategy.
Cornerstone and malcom Norris found the deposit. Nick just took the farm in. I don't think he was that great looking back over everything.
Look how the new CEO described the culture at the company.
Bozi
Yes it was not impossible but to most people it seemed highly unlikely that the dream would ever become a reality. And in my opinion that cost us dearly.
Actually I would say you are unlikely to get anywhere in a debate or negotiation if you try to ridicule the opponents views or values.
Your tone Comes across as condescending to say the least.
The let's go to production point of view had very little chance of happening , you have basically admitted that.
Selling it was always the more likely.
So which ultimately made more sense from a business point of view?
What side of the argument has been backed up?
Bozi, you're right, I was inially enthusiastic about DC. However, once it became clear he was wedded to the pipe dream, the scales fell from my eyes.
Add - performance has ebbed and flowed. 2H 2022 was unacceptable, but I think you'd have to admit you were quite content with Darryl's early exploits. He got his face out there, plan A begets plan B and he delivered the PFS to his timeframe.
2020 and 2021 had their moments but ultimately a disappointing backdrop in a chaotic world around us. Porvenir the silver lining.
Radical change was needed but is this it? The old Guyana Gold head honcho who was happy to sell us off before. What has Bob had to do to get him on board?
Monte - your question has zero relevance. We know that SolGold has no chance of becoming the next BHP.
To turn it back on you, how did all the major miners, the BHPs, the Freeport's, Rio's Glencore's etc etc become what they are today? Did they all start off as mining whales?
We know that the Ivanhoe path is not one that is well treaded. Juniors that make significant discoveries are usually snaffled before they can outgrow digestible size. But what you and others who derided Mather's attempts to follow in Friedland's footsteps is that SolGold had a better opportunity that 98% of their junior compatriots owing to the size of Alpala and the work done in country with the government.
It doesn't rain in the Sahara very often but does that mean it cannot happen?
Bozi, one point: No one can deny the company has been a complete shambles for the past three years. Radical change was necessary and now it's time to deliver.
Just for balance
Can the people who ridicule the " let's get it sold " Brigade name in the history of mankind the last time a penny stock backwater company became a major in the mining space?
Because basically that is what you are saying by listening to the company.
Sounds ridiculous really doesn't it, when you say it in black and white.
I can win a game of monopoly and state that within 10 years im going to own wall St.
Only your mother a few nutters and obviously a few on here would believe it and still try to make themselves look start.
I actually think Mather has made such a fool of himself that he will retire after this. Just he has managed to take a few along with him on this board.
Monte - you do realise that is how constructive debate works?
The whole process is centred around not just us making our own points but discrediting the arguments others are making that you disagree with. Whether you do that with statistics or empirical evidence or something else.
Have a read of your own posts Monte. The same mannerisms exist. I don't mean anything personal to anyone, but I'm here to say what I think, why I think it, and why I think I'm right and others are wrong.
You ought to hope we do Monte or it will turn very sour for whoever is left holding the baby.
Your negative view of Mather's behaviour is enlightening. He showed that he isn't a mug. He made and developed a tier 1 discovery and not many manage that. You tell me why there's a need for him to pander to others? It certainly doesn't suit him, me or you.
Bozi
You sound like you know what you're talking about most of the time,
But do you have to do it in that irritating way that Quady is so fond of, where by you state your point of view by trying to make everyone else look stupid who thinks differently. After all it's only just opinions we have. Yours included.
And ps
If you do get a good price and soon maybe someone is the blind one after all.
