NG - defensive stock today against the large market fall
I didn't even notice that. Nice.
broken - excellent
Looks like the SP is edging ever closer to the 52 week high of 9.9920
The media haven't helped with a few news sources hinting that Germany may follow suit.
I have had a little look at some statistics. I personally am not convinced with the accuracy of these reports as while Germanys rate of infection is on the rise, its much slower and more controlled than Austria.
Looks as if the usual media feeding frenzy is getting started, just look at what it did with fuel just recently, caused a problem where really no problem existed.
Of course the Austrian population is reported to be poor at taking up the antivirus treatments, but it looks as if its going to be mandatory for them next year. Austria will be the first country in Europe to make COVID-19 vaccines mandatory by law.
Is not a good sign with Austria returning to full lockdown from Monday and reports that Germany may follow suit.
The NG. SP has fared better than many and I'm glad it forms part of my portfolio.
Stocks are not liking the Austrian news today, early signs suggest the '4th wave' of covid is being welcomed by winter.
NG. might be a good place to hide.
After mulling over today's results, I'm so glad I bought back in
Plus another decent divi to re-invest.
tedmark
Couldn't agree more, NG. is one of several defensive stocks I hold that offer support at difficult times.
Slow and steady wins the race, compounding is king.
A good thing is that the work on the interconnectors has finished.
Means dont have to worry about commodity price inflation.
Also, the revenues for the networks have inflation protection in them.
Is a great share to have in these times.
Good? They're f-ing excellent. Divvies are tasty too. Expect to see a big re-rating in the upwards direction soon.
"Given the strong start to the year, we now expect to deliver full year underlying EPS significantly above the top end of our 5 - 7% range. This is primarily driven by early commissioning of our new NSL interconnector, coupled with higher auction prices across our interconnector portfolio, which is expected to deliver around £100 million higher operating profit."
Strangely this came up instantly, but my previous post took over an hour.
Is it just me or is there a delay on posts showing up on here taday?
The market thinks so also.
Underlying profit up 47%
Statutory operating profit up 55%
Underlying EPS up 66%
Statutory EPS down 25% (A result of the remeasurement of deferred tax balances at the new UK rate of 25% which comes into effect from 1 April 2023.)
Work completed on the 1,400MW North Sea Link (NSL) to Norway.
NG. expect to deliver full year underlying EPS significantly above the top end of their 5 - 7% range.
I'm back in with 2000 yesterday as I'm feeling defensive all of a sudden.
Hydrogen is the cleanfuture.
It would take a lot of careful joined up planning plus a lot of electricity to produce green hydrogen so i dont think it will happen
I was hoping someone was going to expand on this 'energy transition to hydrogen' post with some views/comments.
Appreciate the feedback and agree right now is not a good entry point. Have identified a number of good dividend payers and this is certainly one of them. Will sit back and wait. However, can’t help endorse comment below, it really wouldn’t surprise me if NG. Stayed above £10 with its WPD acquisition approved and being in a perfect position for the current energy explosion

The 52 week high was £9.836, so not a lot of headroom on todays SP. Of course historic SP does not mean it will not go on to beat that. However this isn't the type of stock that typically shoots up.
It is a dependable safe haven to offset risk in these strange times, while providing a dividend well above the average.
In my opinion its the type of stock every investor should have in a diversified portfolio, and it represents 4.92% of my own portfolio.
Sometimes boring is good in small amounts.
Hey Giraffe, don't you think that you have left it till too late? The SP is now the highest since February 2020.......lol
Thanks everyone. Now all I have to do is decide on an entry point. Will the SP keep rising because results that are coming are good, or will it fall back?
Ex div 02/12/21

The amount would be declared at HY results - due on 18th Nov I think
should go xd for the interim near the end of month , with a payment made in January.
