I am not sure this would achieve a lot, valuing intangible assets always subject to differing points of view. Blackwoods might have been valued highly a couple of years ago, I doubt it's worth much now.
Also the value of a brand might be worth far more to another company than dis, if they have a whole to fill in a portfolio but have brilliant worldwide distribution and retail contacts to exploit.
It has been said many times over the years that DIS should get an external consultancy to value the brands, because that is the true core value of this company, that is what it's NAV should be based on, and that is what any takeover offer should be based on.
I think RG will have done his own valuation of the brands, which is why he is willing to buy up huge chunks of the stock, he sees them as a bargain compared to to the value of the brands.
We know DG laughed at £10m for RedLeg a few years ago. It is clearly worth a lot more today, and there is the award winning Blackwood's, Blavod, etc, yet the whole if DIS is currently valued at less than £10m. So RG would be correct to think the stock is a bargain at this price.
as an aside Mr Raymond owns the king of Soho gin brand (which is one of my favorites) as a private company.
Always wondered w hether , as a key shareholder, he would look to merge and own a higher % of the public company.
interesting to see how this develops
So they replaced that rns and it was 27t November and todays rns states Mr Raymond has sold out
Great news, wish I bought more at 1.50p! However does anyone know any reason why RG would take this over? Also the price has risen so much since August, the viability of a takeover with a premium to current prices would be reduced.
It is a little weird in today's information age. The requirement for this reporting is on the shareholder rather than the company or market. All very manual.
Not sure on any slapped wrists or done a for non or late reporting.
Unsure on a full takeover, possibly just sees value for the medium to long term. I don't know enough about the way he operates to see whether he is nappy holding a minority stake ( in a well run company) where he may have a voice at the table, or wants full control.
Based on the RNS, threshold was crossed in Aug.
Very healthy buying last two days, hold tight all
Looks like a takover coming .........
RNS!! RG now has 20.38% !!!!!!!!!
If no RNS next week then it's probably just some internal account transfer at HSBC or something. Hopefully it's something more exciting tho. We are surely a huge takeover target at this level so you never know...
Either way would need an rns.
Weird. Only a couple of shareholders with this volume to sell, a broker would not take that on his books at his risk without a guaranteed buyer lined up ?
what are those 2 x 43M trades? Has someone just grabbed 18% of the company? (prices look like buys rather then sells)
Local Morrisons sold out of RedLeg today!
6 % on like 6, or 7 k .... doesn't take much to move that share.
Appears to be good at the moment, still under the radar so a great time to get in...strong branding and a good future outlook imo...
This is ticking up on a small number of quite reasonable buys over the last few days. An interesting pattern. Good company for takeover - small capitalisation, popular brands and good growth potential in 'emerging' drinks markets such as southern Africa.
This is getting noticed. Has the potential to surprise. Am holding for the magic 2.5p..
Interims were great, Finals will be similar if not better.. SP moves up on tiny volume.. hopefully be back over 2p and heading for 3p in the New Year.
RedLeg got a few mentions in this video, both by the bartender and in the comments, where some people said it was their choice of spiced Rum.

RedLeg also appeared in this video at the 15m 30s mark.

I bet that wasn't cheap, neither will DIS be when they buy it.

disappointing share price movement today. hopefully a write up somewhere as a recommendation to get some new interest.
Just great to see a forward looking company, not relying on others! Love this company, dragging their product up, by their own hard work, and obviously a very good product.
