I agree S-T - Bassala has excellent prospects. The first batch of samples are from drilling over the previously identified targets and areas of artisanal gold workings, so some interesting geochem / assay data will be produced.
.... gold not mentioned in terms of the present drilling campaign! Only historical.
I guess Mickey that is because gold wasn't mentioned. I've seen a few postings on this board mentioning 'core' being sent to the lab. Of course the samples (air core and RC) are drill chippings and it is virtually impossible to spot gold in these while logging in the field - there's only just enough time for cursory inspection and description. There are ways of extracting the gold in the field by producing a heavy mineral concentrate from sample excess. The twitter video https://twitter.com/pantheraplc?lang=en shows a sample being riffle split in the field to reduce its size for shipping and someone in the background fine sieving red-brown oxidized sulphide material - which is not part of the sampling programme. So they are looking at heavy mineral fraction but it is only qualitative.
Excellent news. As expected - a lot of sulphide mineralization in association with the gold. High demand at SGS in Bamako: from experience for estimate of 4 weeks turnaround time I think around 6 is more likely.
Great 'MM' plug Sporty - being pertinent, informative and amusing!
A RNS even in the next 2 weeks I think is unlikely. Drilling at Bassala is ongoing but early-stage. If they intercept mineralization such as massive sulphides or want to update us on drilling progress some early news may come our way.
To save on mine infrastructure development they could provide ore feed to the Kalana facility.
PAT are looking for a bulk open-pittable resource, as at their neighbours Endeavour at Kalana. https://www.endeavourmining.com/media/news/endeavour-reports-positive-pfs-results-both-fetekro-and-kalana-confirming-strong-0.
On the PAT licence Google Earth / Maps shows a high density of artisanal workings

This and the historical data from shallow drilling are favourable pointers to finding appropriate grades and tonnage. The present phase of drilling will tell us more!
Hi Impecunious. That's okay. A sample that is homogenized (pulverized) can be 'assayed' by portable XRF for gold, but the process is laborious and requires a lab as a rock sample has to be coarse crushed (jaw crushed), fine crushed using a disk mill and split with a riffle splitter. Then a representative split is finally milled in a 'big pot' tema mill before a sub-sample of that (usually around 30 g) is split for analysis. Duplicates are also taken and submitted as well as 'blank' (dud) samples and standards containing a known amount of the metal/s. All quite fiddly! So it's a lab job really. All the best!
Hi Impecunious. Portable XRF data for gold contained within another medium - i.e. rock, drill core, drill chippings, soils is highly unreliable due to a combination of what is described as the 'nugget effect' (the tendency for gold to occur as discrete grains - always irregularly distributed) and subsampling error (the sub-sample selected for analysis may not be representative of the whole sample). The presentation was actually very typical of a decent 'conference-style' presentation that could be made at an exploration conference, so I wouldn't knock it too much. Positive aspects are 1. the 20 km long fault structure, 2. the high-grade ore shoots are 'big, thick, high-grade' and 3. the association with sulphides - making geophysics feasible. On the downside the lab. chosen sounds like a bit of a dog's breakfast but shipping of samples for analysis outside a country (and during Covid) comes with risks - so I wouldn't knock that. Brad sounds like a sound-minded bloke to me.
In early April I posted how exciting I thought Bassala was. The share price was then at around 12/13 p. The historical shallow RAB drilling revealed widespread anomalous gold and importantly several potentially sizeable 'hot spots'. I anticipate the drillholes from the current drilling will be aimed at proving up the near-surface mineralization (sub-100 m depth holes) and that they will be targeting the hot spots. Seems to me that some trenching and bulk sampling might compliment the drill data but overburden depths may be too thick for that. PAT currently has a paltry valuation and Bassala (if grades favourable) could be worth many times that. GLA!
Hi JC-130. They have trickled updates on Bassala project since March 26th RNS. The data suggests this could be a 'biggie' - and a shallow sub-surface gold deposit. The quality of PAT's project presentations on their website are excellent and they appear to be currently updating the Bassala page.
Opening the Bassala link on the company website seems to be an issue - whereas none of the others are. They could be updating the already excellent information and maps.
Bottomed? Watch the rebound!
It was a buy I believe. The true spread at COB was approx. 2.3 / 2.15.
Certainly an interesting rise over the last couple of days
Price continues to rise
I think 'bidding war' is what investors are hoping for!
Top of the 'Risers' board? Hopefully the start of a good day.
Dated 29 June Hellme - but confusing I agree. The tide appears to have turned though at around 12.01!
