As I posted a while ago the situation is complex because they want to expand their resource base. However, depending on overburden depth and the amount of mapping detail they already have I would envisage shallow step out drilling or mechanical pitting to test other targets. Not expensive - just depends on the area they have targeted for possible extensions. A million would be a good budget for this. Perhaps less if they wish to do it in stages.

I am also in on KP2 (Kore Potash). Sitting on an enormous potash resource close to the coast in Republic of Congo (Congo Brazzaville). Better bet than most AIM mining companies in my view. As always DYOR.

There were a few adverse comments posted about Zim - some in the aftermath of the Motley Fool article. From my experience when I've worked in Zim here are my feelings. There are a fair number of large mines in Zimbabwe which run quite successfully and with no more hassle than in any other country in the continent. Take as an example Caledonia Mining (CMCL) who have been there for years. As Caledonia put it the country's infrastructure is pretty good despite the under-investment in recent years. Almost every person speaks English and like the British. The Zimbabwean people are polite and very good company. Scaremongery I would say ... the Motley fool is probably watching the Film on 4 'Sahara' right now and writing off Mali too!

Interesting thread of conversation about technical challenges. I have worked in this region - although just over the border in Gabon where a number of companies faced similar challenges re. possible iron ore and manganese mining. Pointe Noir is too small for large vessels and the tidal range all along this coast is small. The iron ore miners were going to build their own jetty port - so I guess the same is possible here. Plenty of good, hard rock inland (15 km or so from coast). Re. power for the mining ops this is elephant grass country which is just burned seasonally. It has a high calorific value and therefore can be either burned to produce power and/or bioethanol via a specialist plant.

A JV always involves negotiations and often quite heated ones. It's not like a bank just lending out money on the basis of someone's earnings or assets. It's more like a surgical procedure with patience required.

Anyone expecting a RNS in the first couple of days of this week shouldn't worry. The delay will because discussions and deals will be complex. This is mainly because the Li resource is only partly proven - so there is an unknown and unquantifiable additional (large tonnage) of Li that needs to be proven up. Discussions and decisions such as this take more than a few days! In the meantime however MM's will take their opportunity.
