Trading statement should be interesting as they already guided the decline in fibre furnace/rf revenue. Probably overstated it so we could get a lift on the number but not on outlook. Remember though the revenues are more than enough to cover all the R&D and marketing etc for plastics, so I look at it as it this is free. Bit like drilling for oil without a rig cost coz it’s been discounted. Trek, blue at last!
Looking forward to 22 July for the Interim Trading Statement. Should be good.
Excellent news from Biome and a lot more to come-this is only the beginning of a rollout of their plastic alternatives they have been working on for a few years and with the push to ban plastics this is a company that can really make you some money. Only valued at £8 million and with only 2 million shares iissue and profitable..
WATCH OUT FOR MORE NEWS.
Great news - outlook for H2 looks very promising! I'm expecting Bioplastics div to be hitting the £1M per Q in 3 & 4.
News on bioplastics revenue. £0.75m, just for Q2. But once it’s out there this should very quickly take off as it’s a heat stable bio degradable plastic. The uses are limitless. Cactus development is miles behind this technology. Trek.
Paul is only interested in the share price for when he retires.
sold out a few years ago, just checking in, what with all the press coverage regarding single use plastics i expected the share price to be in the £££'s by now, oh but i forgot Paul Mines is still running it so i'm not surprised really to still see the share price at £3 (which is really 3p as they did a 100 for 1 share consolidation some years ago)
I just added 500 at 3.37, that is soo cheap imo, mm asleep on this one now. Trek
I can't wait until a big boy like Costa comes along in search of a world saving alternative and we all get rich!
BIOM is a positive, hard-working company that's making a profit, has a good trading update yet investor interest is minimal. Why?
In advance of its Annual General Meeting today, Biome Technologies, a leading bioplastics and radio frequency technology business, is pleased to announce a trading update for the three months ended 31 March 2019.
Group revenues achieved for the first three months of the year were £2.1m, which is 11% ahead of the previous quarter (Q4 2018: £1.9m) and in line with those achieved in Q1 2018 (Q1 2018: £2.1m).
The Group made a small profit before interest, tax, depreciation, amortisation and share option charges in this quarter (based on unaudited management accounts).
The Group's cash position as at 31 March 2019 was £2.1m (31 December 2018: £2.6m), reflecting working capital movements.
Bioplastics Division
Revenues in the Bioplastics division for the first quarter rose significantly to £0.6m (Q1 2018: £0.4m; Q4 2018: £0.4m).
The improved performance was helped by both increased sales of outer packaging for the US single serve coffee market and by initial sales for a novel material for a single serve pod being launched into the nutrition market, previously reported as being under development. It is anticipated that sales for this latter application will gradually increase through the remainder of this year.
Progress on other projects, such as the rigid ring material and a plastic film based product for the North America market, remain on track with revenues for the rigid ring continuing to be anticipated to commence in Q2 2019 following completion of final testing.
Stanelco RF Technologies Division
Revenues for the first quarter of 2019 in the Stanelco RF division were £1.5m (Q1 2018: £1.7m; Q4 2018: £1.5m). The quarter was impacted positively by the delivery of multiple fibre optic furnaces which will not occur to the same extent in Q2.
In light of the current order book and general market outlook, the Board believes that revenues from this division for 2019 will be in line with previous guidance but more likely to be closer to those of 2017 than 2018, which was an exceptional year.
Outlook
2019 has commenced in an encouraging manner, particularly for the Bioplastics Division, and in line with the expectations set out in the Company's preliminary results announcement.
Well I didn’t expect that. A note of encouragement ahead of the agm. Obviously the BoD cognisant of the sp decline which looks over done. Bioplastics doing well and a demand horizon. I do think we may be surprised end of year with RF as we may get a lift from 5G. Surprised no chairman’s statement but I guess thats because the update was just that. I will post on next message as it’s not on lse. Trek
On web page now.....
Dear Friends of Biome,
Last October, we launched #ThinkBioplastic, an educational campaign aiming to give bioplastics a wider reach and a louder voice in the media landscape.
The accompanying video series Our Plastic Predicament was created to help people better understand the current state of the plastic problem, helping them make their own educated choices.
With that in mind, Our Plastic Predicament investigated the science behind the plastic headlines, as well as highlighting the role of bioplastic as a solution to reduce the harmful impact of plastic manufacture and disposal.
Your positive feedback encouraged us to produce a second series, this time addressing real viewer concerns and questions. In these 4 new episodes, we cover more ground than before, still using science, facts and humour to tell the full (bio)plastic story.
We’d love for you to take a look at Series 2 and share the videos with your friends and network!
Episode 5 - To Bio or Not To Bio?
Episode 6 - ScienceTime! The Game Show
Episode 7 - But I recycle!
Episode 8 - Can bioplastics ever compete?
We are looking forward to receiving your comments and feedback.
Many thanks,
Paul Mines
Just tax balancing I guess. I agree with good news impact and picked up 268 just now. Been buying for a while and got my average down nicely and reached my target here in new isa. Trek
My 160 buy there with the dregs of my isa just turned this blue. Lol. Trek, KPI’S soon!
Well I just flipped some shares and picked up 322 shares here. I think this is the bottom but still happy to add more later. Trek
Agree and kinda pleased the SP is down today as I intend to add here in the new isa. Will be an average down for me as late to Biom but very comfortable with overal cash position and revenue guidance. I still think we are undervalued but I guess that’s a matter of opinion. Trek, tucking away.
All looking good - Considering expectations are to hit KPI's for 2019 this means they expect to reach 11.1M+ REV. We can make an estimate on the split; With the Stanelco rev dropping (C£5.5M) this means the Bioplastics would need to be (C£5.6M) very encouraging ramp up on the Bio division.
28 March Preliminary Results, Report & Accounts, Notice of AGM
Pereira family increase holding from 555,000 to 700,000
Maybe the BIOM plastics division will be taken over by Futamura or another company. Futamura acquired a company in the US last year and is looking for other investments. See: https://www.packagingnews.co.uk/news/materials/flexible-plastics/futamura-completes-acquisition-of-innovia-films-cellulose-business-06-07-2016
and https://suite.endole.co.uk/insight/company/10042418-futamura-chemical-uk-limited
Very interesting news indeed. Expecting some decent SP recovery over coming weeks as this has been oversold after trading statement. It’s going to be a transformational year for the company and I’m anticipating a 30mill mcap by end of year
Good find, must say I have been hoping to average down when it was sub 400 but need to wait for next ISA round as fully invested. Agree could have RNSd that news. Trek.
Very nice research and find on their website. Surprised there's no RNS? Either way this can only be a positive for BIOM - wait until a big supermarket start using this for their 'own brand' products...the market should follow :)
