Very interesting, looks like the dark horse is saddling up and about to leave the stable
Come on Avacta and Medusa19
I was banging on about their increased manufacturing capacity last year. This partnership could prove to be extremely complimentary.
The latest of many many reincarnations of AP, bless his spammy socks. You can spot them a mile off, he changed the name on that account but I already had it clocked as his. Less is more AP...
I see it’s poundpalmers account. Cellar boy’s pretty credible though.
I wonder where palmers been?
I assume we and they are confident we will be granted EUA for home use. Given the crap Innova test was it would be criminal for ours not to.
I’m not sure it’s changed, isn’t that just an annual confirmation, next one due the same day next year? Under their Group structure they’ve also got Medusa19 Health which was incorporated in Nov with the same SIC code
looks like when it was incorporated last year, the sic code was 64999
Looks like Palmers been banned again.
You're right PL, it's just part of the 'Confirmation Statement' companies have to complete every year and send to Companies House. Used to have to do it myself. It applies to Ltd companies and PLC's, so not really that significant.
They have made a conscious decision to change it through their confirmation statement around just 3 weeks ago. That is significant to me
Takes about two minutes to complete a confirmation statement on line (something you HAVE to do on an annual basis). You just confirm PSC's (persons of significant control). You then get a drop down menu of SIC codes to chose from, that's about it. We already know they're a manufacturer of medical devices, they've just selected it as their current principal activity, which is hardly surprising given that they're presumably more engaged with manufacturing tests, than they are with selling them at the moment. So, what's the significance, am I missing something?
Not a dewamp, obviously, since it would be splendid to see M19 knocking out 50-100m tests a month for us, but that will happen regardless of whatever the current SIC code is. Just a case for me of the MD being diligent enough on the day to bother selecting the right code. It has no material impact on the company.
"Looks like Palmers been banned again."
Quite funny that Arnold keeps getting booted off the golf course. Probably made it to the third hole this morning, before the course official spotted him. Back to the driving range it is then...
He could be a little more discreet!
Extract from an article in December.
Medusa 19 is planning to ramp up production to 50 million tests each month at its manufacturing site in the Wirral.
Richard Hughes said: “When a second lockdown was announced, the Prime Minister emphasised the important role rapid tests will play in helping to safely ease COVID-19 restrictions.
Strange how the message was changed in January to:
"We're up to a supply chain of 100mil/month."
https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=626686341553503
Made me wonder, one month later, why they started referring to it as a 'supply chain'. If they own one factory producing rapid tests, where does 'supply chain' fit in. Were they cheekily including Avacta's potential capacity, knowing they would also be manufacturing the Avacta's test, or have they secured additional third party capacity?
Important to note that was in reference to the RSPT test though Zoom. IMO as soon as we are CE marked they will place all of their focus of the AffiDX test though as the other they are producing is note great (92%sens, 98%spec)
On the subject of the RSPT test, I find it very odd that older versions of the website state vastly different s/s figures for the RSPT test:
Old site: 92% specificity 96% sensitivity
(source: http://web.archive.org/web/20201114022131/https://medusa19.com/)
New site: 98% specificity 92% sensitivity
(source: https://www.medusa19.com/en/)
I can't believe they honestly mixed them up, can they..?
I won’t believe it until I see it. Access to a supply chain for a different pointless test doesn’t mean they’ve a shed full of Ginolis ready for raring to go.
Yes it was although I can’t see the RSPT test achieving any where near this type of demand. Of course I could be wrong, but the timing of the scale up announcement seems to suggest they’re expecting increased demand for something.
they wouldnt be increasing capacity for a test that has gone from £30 to £20 because its not selling.
It's quite a leap Dec20 -> 50mil, to Jan21 -> 100mil. Takes some explaining. I mean it's hardly slip of the tongue stuff.
And looking at RNmyS S&S numbers, are there really customers lined up to buy 25mil RSPT tests/week...would be very surprising. Not beyond the realms of possibility, that M19 have secured access to a 'supply chain' with the Avacta test in mind, rather than RSPT. That would be a nice left field RNS.
The counter-argument, I suppose, is that M19 will make significantly more margin from sales of their own test, rather than the margin they'll make on Avacta's test, but will demand considerations of the respective tests have a greater influence on that decision?
What I don't understand is why has AS not referenced Medusa and their production capacity? If they were anywhere close to 50m he would surely have referenced this??
He did say he hoped to secure additional UK manufacturing capacity, outside of GAD, ABDX & BBI. And, I think AS is quite cautious when it comes to making potentially misleading statements (he plays it by the book) - "without misleading" were his words in the last presentation. I mean, what other significant LFD manufacturers are there that we know about in the UK, apart from the usual suspects? Can't be that many, or we'd have heard of them???
Medusa19 is a private company so can keep info under wraps but I am sure AS who has to sell DTC via Medusa will need to reference the combined consortium and others to add to Medusa capacity when jointly considering total figures for ramping purposes as potential if government orders dry up and spare capacity is available.
