- Shares of Plug Power plunged nearly 45% in on Friday after the hydrogen fuelcell maker raised going concern doubts.
The liquid hydrogen market in North America has been severely constrained by frequent force majeure events, leading to volume constraints, which have delayed Plug's deployments and service margin improvements, the company said on Thursday.
Plug has been facing liquidity issues and has lost more than half of its market capitalization since the start of the year. Its annual financial performance has also been impacted by "unprecedented" supply challenges in the hydrogen network in North America.
"The company is projecting that its existing cash and available for sale and equity securities will not be sufficient to fund its operations through the next twelve months," Plug said.
The company would need to tap additional capital to fund its activities.
The company said it was pursuing a number of debt capital and project-financing solutions, including corporate debt and a loan program of the U.S. Department Of Energy.
The Latham, New York-based Plug said cash and equivalents at the end on Sept. 30 stood at $110.8 million.
"While we believe Plug Power can cycle past its current cash flow issues, the current operating and capital markets environments are challenging and we believe PLUG shares are likely to be range bound over the next several quarters until clarity around its balance sheet are sorted out," J.P. Morgan analyst Bill Peterson said.
Plug on Thursday also reported a bigger loss for the three months ended Sept. 30 and its revenue of $198.7 million widely missed estimate of $228.2 million, according to LSEG data.
This isn’t the most active chat board. I’m surprised- plug seems to generate a lot of analysis and comment generally. Is Reddit better for comment on this stock?
Any idea why10% rise today? Results have generally been associated with SP fall for plug and results only 1 week away for Q2. Expectations high for growth and trimming losses. I suspect if expectations met we’ll see a bounce. Anything short of that will be another dip.
Mistake here today Selling for $10.9 . then noticed same sell order executed Friday 7th at that price.
Bought again for *$9 same number as before .

in for th long haul, got excited when petrol ban was annoucned and bought int he heady 190's currently very happy they have branched into Green Hydrogen as BEV has limited growth. If you can charge from home then less incentive for large charging forecourts. apart from rapid charge but grid can't service that. standby BESS units at servcies could deal with this.
Clean energy is of worldwide interest and benefit, Plugs focus on green hydrogen plus the number of fingers in pies within multi nations in my mind makes them a company with high sp growth potential.
Nearly full retrace from last peak? When and is it worth it?

Seems to be helping the SP recovery today:.
Plug Power Inc will be building the largest green hydrogen production facility in North America, the provider of hydrogen fuel cell turnkey solutions said on Thursday. The company will invest $290 million to build the facility at the New York Science, Technology and Advanced Manufacturing Park (STAMP).
Shares of Plug Power (PLUG) dipped 0.4% in pre-market trading on Feb. 26.
Plug Power’s CEO Andy Marsh said, “Plug Power’s future rightfully revolves around building the green hydrogen economy. We are grateful that our home state of New York is helping lead the way on climate and clean energy initiatives. And, that Plug Power’s green hydrogen solutions can make such a positive impact on the environmental and economic climates in the state. We thank our elected officials and partners for their leadership.”
The plant is expected to produce 45 metric tons of green liquid hydrogen daily and will service the Northeast region. Along with the company’s Tennessee plant, it is expected to supply 500 tons of green hydrogen each day by 2025 and 1,000 tons per day by 2028 on a global basis. This project also includes a 450 MW electrical substation that will serve the STAMP site.
