HUI to enter military market with Fortress Fuel

Hydrogen Utopia International PLC ("HUI"), a pioneer in transforming non-recyclable mixed waste into clean hydrogen, carbon-free fuels, advanced materials, and distributed renewable heat, is delighted to announce the launch of Project Fortress Fuel, an initiative to develop a system expected to significantly strengthen the role of energy independence in the context of national security. The system is expected to convert domestically generated waste plastic and end-of-life tyres into JP-8 military aviation fuel and baseload electricity directly at or near the point of use, reducing reliance on long-distance, geopolitically exposed fuel supply chains.

At its core, the strategic rationale is driven by a fundamental reassessment of modern military logistics. Conventional defence operations remain heavily reliant on centralised refining capacity and complex maritime supply routes, many of which traverse contested regions or strategic chokepoints. Recent global conflicts, including the Russia-Ukraine war and particularly instability involving Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, have demonstrated that these extended supply chains are no longer merely a cost or efficiency consideration; they represent a critical vulnerability. Fuel disruption now sits alongside cyber and communications failures as a primary strategic risk vector for sustained military readiness.

Project Fortress Fuel is intended to address this exposure by enabling distributed, sovereign fuel production within national borders and, crucially, at forward-operating bases and strategic installations. This decentralised model is expected to reduce dependence on imported refined products and mitigates the risk of interdiction, embargo, or kinetic disruption to maritime fuel logistics. In effect, it has the potential to convert waste management infrastructure into resilient energy security infrastructure.

The Fortress Fuel model is conceived as a self-sufficient system designed to operate independently of external utilities such as electricity or water. Strategically, it is expected to allow a location to remain operational even if cut off from external supply chains. A typical production facility would be designed to produce up.

Powerhouse Energy takes part in EU-funded sustainable business project

(Alliance News) - Powerhouse Energy Group PLC on Monday said it will take part in an EU-funded sustainable business project at Brunel University of London.

The Bingley, England-based firm focuses on turning non-recyclable waste into low carbon energy.

It will participate in new Horizon Europe innovation action under the "Just Circle" project, which is being led by Brunel Business School.

Horizon Europe is an EU-funded research programme which has set aside around EUR5 million in for Just Circle, which will focus on circular business models "for a fair and sustainable transition", Powerhouse said.

The project has a total consortium value of about EUR5.85, across 14 partners in nine countries. It is 70% grant-funded, with Powerhouse expecting to receive GBP225,000 for the use of its technology.

The first kick off meeting will be held on June 10 and 11.

Paul Emmitt, chief executive of Powerhouse, called it a "prestigious opportunity", adding: "We are delighted to be part of this consortium and working with the team. This project is undoubtedly asking some very significant questions which need to be looked at and..

Another yellow-level thunderstorm warning has been issued for between 9am and 6pm on Friday for 16 counties: Cavan, Clare, Donegal, Galway, Kildare, Leitrim, Laois, Longford, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, and Westmeath.

Met Éireann warned of “torrential downpours” leading to flooding in places, lightning damage, “large hail”, hazardous driving conditions and very gusty winds.

It also said there could be damage to power, water, gas, and telecommunication utilities.

It said that if the necessary thunderstorm triggers of moisture, instability and a lifting mechanism are met, it is “likely that parts of the north-west and west will experience extreme thunderstorm activity” on Thursday, and other areas will have less severe activity on Friday.

A separate thunderstorm warning was announced for all of Northern Ireland.

The UK Met Office yellow warning will be in place from midnight until 10am on Friday.

It said heavy showers and thunderstorms may bring disruption in places on Friday and there was a “small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds”.

The Met Office also said there was a “slight chance that power cuts could occur” and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost..
