Regarding the relative rise in interest rates , in the 80s they went from 6% to over 12% very quickly . I think that 6% is a normal realistic mortgage rate . Personally I would not lend money , or invest it for less than a 6% annual return . I sympathise with ftbuyers today given the wage multiple to house price , but I believe the situation will normalise in ( in time ) Personally I think house prices could dip slightly but I think global demand for UK housing will balance things out .
