The point I've always tried to make is climate change is important but you can't harm society to much during the transition, you need to strike a balance. Banning fossil fuel to soon would create huge damage to all societies rich or poor. The nutters need to realise? it will? take time, around 20 years plus. That's not blinkered that's realism
You see, some people only care about the money and are happy to sacrifice everything and everyone else to get what they want. I get that Montie's post was gilded with sarcasm but ironically they are right. No pollenators, no people. My take on all this is that looking after the locals of all species shapes and sizes is important.
Theiceberg (aptly named as you will cease to exist in future at this climatic rate!), I love the list declaring what SOLG is about....but you failed to mention their number one priority in pursuit of their existence: MONEY....and dollops of it. The shiney, emotive bits (your list) come way down the list of numero uno cannot be achieved easily........
Solg has nothing to do with climate change. It's about sustainability. Locals benefiting. Fair taxes for ecuador. Water usage. Power generation. Land clearance Deforestation Pollution Safety (tailings dams)
I am glad to say that solg is doing all the right things.
The court case details where first released in Ecuador newspapers on friday ... There wasn't a leak from solg. The sp dropped today as the market makers gapped up to the top of the resistance. Whether this was deliberately or not who knows. What it has done has flushed out traders. I would say consolidation at 22-23p particularly this afternoon before a push through the 23p resistance tomorrow. Wed- Fri is the key timeframe for something a bit nicer and it will be nice to break 23p ready for that.
As to Climate Change of which I am in firm agreement with the science . I would happily argue this with folks on a climate change forum but it has no place in a share forum..
Things would have continued rising today without the recent Corona virus news. Shame. The world is co ordinating well, so even though we need to clean the plant up, let's hope the misguided environment protesters allow the vital infrastructure links to continue unabated at this very important time. Hope my grammar was good enough for shippy to allow me to continue debating without a personal unnecessary attack
You're right, the "Beast From The East" was cold and snowy. We have always had the odd year like that. I would say that is historically normal climate roughly speaking.
HOWEVER, most other recent years the weather has been disturbingly warm during winter, and noticeably much wetter than "back in the old days". I notice the wet as I cycle regularly.
If you aren't employed by the oil industry (who are ****ting themselves as their investments are becoming increasingly unprofitable), then try to be honest to yourself that you do indeed see changes to the climate over a period of years.
I think you should keep eating beef and enjoying life if that's what you want to do. Don't spend time being told what to do if you indeed do not want to change your ways.
But do be honest and say to yourself and everyone else: "maintaining my lifestyle that I enjoy now is more important to me than the alleged consequences of a worsening more extreme climate".
All right Rusty, just got you down as an Idiot and a nasty piece of work. Your reason for it being 150 years, you just made that up. Even the nutters know we have just over 200 years of what you call accurate data. I have explained below, why its 150 years. You are obviously so intelligent that you know more than anyone in this world. Your comments on Immigration are just nasty. You just got the honour of being the 3rd person on my filter list. This is really hard to achieve, as you have to be a complete and utter idiot. Just for the record, you qualified easily.
Regardless of ones personal views and beliefs on climate change and the environment I draw your attention to the last, short, paragraph of the RNS "SolGold continues to work closely with all levels of the Ecuadorean government and with the local communities within which SolGold and its regional subsidiaries operate to create a sustainable and responsible mining industry in Ecuador"
This is the continuing mantra of the company so they obviously believe that being sensitive to the needs of the locals and the environment the locals live in, is an important part of responsible mining.
Rusty, you don't even understand the reason for the 150 year period. It's because of industrialism and clearly shows the man made element. Yes studies go back far further than that. But are not relevant to the man made element. That shouldn't be so hard to understand. Just so you don't try to make a conspiracy out of this statement. Yes some are 140 year studies. Some more or less.
Not sure if Rusty is a troll or not, but I'll reply since I met someone not too long ago like him in a pub and he was definitely real.
You don't have to listen to anyone about climate change, but I would suggest using your own experience of the climate to decide whether it is changing. For me, it is noticing how little snow we get nowadays and how winters are so much warmer than they were in the 80s and 90s.
I've never been able to wear a T-shirt outdoors on Christmas day until the last few years.
Something is definitely very wrong with our climate and this has happened noticeably to me in the last 20 years. I made this decision without me listening to anyone in the media/online. I have talked to relatives who have noticed the same and they have been alive much longer so have more experience to show this is not just a "blip".
