Is harland and wolff website down?
Ship Maintenance and repair firm from Korea, Hyundai Marine raises usd$544 million for 20%, market cap values the company at $3billion+
... whereas Harland and Wolf market cap at £20mil... doesn't make any sense. Surely a correction needed here 😂
This is Korea's biggest IPO in 2 years.

Kevan Jones mentions FSS contract award again
Jim Shannon supports NI regional hub and makes the case for NI to get a fair share of defence opportunities. H&W mentioned alongside Thales and Spirit Aerosystems.
Grant Shapps mentions NI shipbuilding importance and pipeline of work ( not specific )
Haven't watched it all but Maria Eagle MP was giving a good reply to govt at the end on behalf of Labour.
Roy Roy hold fast
Xenor here’s hoping!!
We're all sat here waiting on finance, IM JR appeal result and confirmation of Falklands contract. RNSs here tend to be like buses, we'll probably get all three plus a trading update in the same week.
Invested here for 18months now and had chance to take profit on a few opportunities, not many. My growing concern is the lack of any substantial news (don’t find the updates on LinkedIn that important overall) and the share has now turned stagnant after a pretty good uptick last month. Is May going to be any different? I’m starting to get itchy feet about moving money elsewhere. FYI IDMOR

£361k contract award to Navalue
these were upbeat today as deutsche bank issues a strong research note for bab**** up 2.5% with bae following on looking like another all time closing high. time will tell. let's hope the boe have been watching the various components of cpi that have already been published indicating that the offical april data due 22nd, will fall to 2%. oil is down 10% from recent highs.
the bank meets on thursday to decide on the next move. at the last meet, one voted for a cut whilst the remaining 8 voted for no change.
You're right Stokey

LSE03 ref 13.29 post Is Cory not planning to transport CO2 by barge in conjunction with other partners?
There will be one ministerial statement from the Leader of the House of Commons Twitter feed which says
Leader of the House of Commons
@CommonsLeader
There will be one oral statement today:
1) Defence Secretary - Defence Personnel Update
Https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-plans-to-drive-carbon-capture-industry-forward
Millions of tonnes of captured carbon dioxide (CO2) could be transported via road, rail, barge or ship, revolutionising the way it reaches offshore storage sites, helping more businesses cut emissions.
The government has today (7 May) launched a call for evidence for innovative new options for transporting CO2, on top of the existing network of pipelines, supporting industry on the path to net zero.
I havejust checked the Order Paper for today. Unless we have any Ministerial Statements or Urgent Questions then the debate will start around 3.40pm and is scheduled to finnish at 10pm. So looks like a good five hours of debate. Despite her interest in the matter I would not expect the Leader of the House to take part. As I said in my 3 May post I am expecting the following to be bought up
Defence Spending in Northern Ireland
Service accomodation
AJAX
Defence procurement.
Fair enough. I just don't feel it's my place to comment on the local services of a place I don't live, or even places I have travelled to (I travel a lot).
I do find it interesting that the narrative on there is the same narrative you get on ADVFN and to a lesser extent on here. That the government is bailing the company out with a 200m loan. I don't find that a coincidence. Only takes one or two people to say something enough for local people to believe it as unlike shareholders the residents of Scilly aren't going to be doing their own research on HARL as a company. They only care about their ferry services and may believe people posting additional information are trying to help out rather than protecting their own interests.
It's clear now that JW completely underestimated what it takes to start up a new ferry company and his idea of getting it up and running with a full service in time for this season was overly ambitious. The delays in getting finance over the line likely hasn't helped.
Hilarious
Didn't mean to single him out, but glad to hear it, Sam.
Seeing his story in that BBC article was great. Loved the photo of the four generations of father and son's. I'm sure there are many similar stories.
Thanks for the update.
Lot's people post on there not just islanders. Ex pats, family members that have left and a lot of holiday makers looking for answers regarding their travel arrangements. Pretty certain the admin chap lives off island. Anyway, was just saying that maybe someone should set them straight as people seem to think that the company has governmental funding to the tune of £200m to assist them in their endevours. And that means an unfair advantage in doing locals out of work, as they see it. Not a good look for the company, imo.
Totally agree with your last paragraph, X. And it's all a bit hadhock, almost amature, to boot. I don't particularly like businesses over use of social media to start with. What I do find ridiculous, is to see the CEO of the company engaging in almost petty squables with people on social media. Is it the sort of thing his contemporaries Charles Woodburn or David Lockwood do on a regular basis? I think that that is the issue though. With JW, it seems the whole thing has all become just a little personal since the loosing of the build contract. His has said not, but.... i'm not convinced. imo
Anyway, The Atlantic Wolff has now left the... quay. ETA: SANTANDER May 8, 08:00 (in 2 days)
Yes Robert Childs is still working part time at H&W passing his knowledge and experience on to others.
Stokey12, 14:30. It’s good to see your thought processes. Much better than the bumbling muttering of certain others. Well done and keep it up!
Consuela ref 14.22 the article I was referring to is this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_26_frigate as you will see i has so far taken seven years from first steel cut to now and the first vessel, HMS Glasgow, is still not fully finished. I would observe that seven years is how long Team Resolute has to build all three FSS ships. It is also worth noting that despite all their experience when BAe and BAB had to do an open tender for the FSS no only did they lose to Team Resolute their bid was non compliant. So yes I do believe in a fair competition HARL could win a bid against BAe and BAB.
Stokey - getting more churlish by the post! To date Harl (in present manifestation) has no record of building ships for MOD, it all rests on the future performance
As regards records they were 6 months late building barges never mind destroyer’s!
X - Paranoia getting to you? I would imagine commenting on a fb group might depend where you live or in this case many from all over the country who visit?
Careful with your last para…. Getting a tad close to reality there!
Stokey, the article doesn't mention any delays. Either way, there's various risks to programme manage, some are known and on the critical path, some aren't, these are issues, which happen. If there are delays there will be reasons behind them.
If you seriously think H&W could compete or even out compete / perform these 2, you need to give your head a wobble.
