RE: What the market thinks..23 Nov 2020 13:03
Hi Tom, This has always (and I am sure I am not alone), been the biggest nagging concern. Its never been about the need for better and more testing but that for all AVCT's promises, as PL75 always points "we don't have one".
The need for mass testing seems to be overwhelming but we haven't got one. One of our major manufacturers was not mentioned, so we are no going to do millions per month if we ever were going to?
The govt are working with what they have. That might seem a pretty crappy test but if AVCT have not got one then what is the govt to do? (and what happened to waste water detection?)
I'm not sure AVCT have gone backwards, I just think they have stopped going forwards and that's now reflected in the SP.
Vaccines are the solution eventually, but this time around, the speed of the vaccines coming to market are increased and due to public awareness they will get taken up quickly, or at least more quickly then normal I think. Listening to R4 this morning with the man from Oxford it does seem to be a very good effort. No side effects to speak of, figured out a 2 dose but counter intuitively, the first dose needs to be about half in strength as the second as that increased efficacy from 70% to 90%, way above what you get from the Flu Jab. Also mentioned other positives as well. Expects to have it around April in significant numbers but AZ are making doses now and the govt have already secured 100m of them so that's the UK pretty much done already.
Testing for years... hmm maybe, but only if we have major mutations. The Covid window, initially for AVCT seemed big enough and would remain open for plenty of time, but the window turned out to be smaller and is closing bit by bit every week.
Bams should still be significant for the company and the Cancer therapy huge, but the Cancer strand is only just beginning and will have many hurdles yet to overcome, so based on AS's timelines and then adding another 12-18 months suggests this is a 2023 onwards stock. And at around these prices give or take 25%, could be a very good investment, but that's the risk reward. 24-36 month tie up of capital against an unknown result, however the results could be very good indeed.
