FWIW when the SP was up to 180p (pretty much at the same time AS sold his shares) I was up 30% and I have a rule (as typically I don't hold stocks that long), that if I get 30% profit I sell because historically my experience has always been (give or take a few percent) the stock falls back from there. But this one I did not because of the nature of the business it was in and the environment of its market suggested that even (much) greater rewards were on offer.
So, it goes to show that making exceptions to rules that you "know" work, more often than not only prove why you had it as a "rule" in the first place. The learning curve never ends it seems......

Everything here has been repeated on here ad nauseam. What you are objecting to with me, is that you don't like or are interested in what I have to say. That is not the same thing. And the reason I post as long posts as I typically do, is to try and explain where I am coming from so as to be clear on the point I am trying to get across.
At some stage the penny will drop that the biggest hinderance to making money on buying and selling shares is the emotional pull that is exerted on people when money is involved.

I can't bring anything technical to this board regarding AVCT, and for all the interesting links that are posted, it does not affect the SP.
What I have tried to do is after 40 years of doing this is to pass on some thoughts that might help people make better decisions when deciding to but and sell stocks.

ES, I just try to highlight how emotional most are when it comes to buying/selling shares. How we make what may be seen as "bad (or disappointing)" news releases fit a narrative to enforce original decisions. Typically, mostly it does not make for good decision making in this game
This is a most remarkable board for individuals to be harangued for their views. Wolves has taken some stick for predicting a fall in the SP. (Ok, its a mugs game to do that), but based on previous SP reactions to the sort of news on Vaccines we heard today, it was hardly "out there". And why give him so much grief? Does anybody think his (or any of our posts) move the SP? Clearly his doesn't.
For many this is just an echo chamber for most who do not want to engage in a different viewpoint. Who do not want explore any nuance to the story.
What is obvious that last week or the week before (I lose track) this board very excited over Bams and felt an announcement was due on the Monday. The board was very positive and upbeat and there was little or no personal abuse, but when the news fails to come through this board reverts to how it is now, spiteful and vindictive. It suggest a high degree of misplaced anxiety and anger. Again not a good place from where to make financial decisions imo.
I dare say i will get some posters abusing me for simply writing this post rather than examining why they react the way they do. But hey ho. This place is Lord Of The Flies writ large.

It was only less than a month ago when the SP was in170p-180p range and all we could all talk about was when it would go through200p. Now we get excited it is holding up well, in the 120p's. Same stock, same posters, interesting.

Just an observation too, I imagine given if we don't get an RNS in the next 2 days, that on Monday it is the 7th of December. All of us, who would have predicted with about 2 and bit weeks left of Q4 that we would not have had one single RNS of (positive)share moving news from AS's update at the end of Sept concerning all the strands of the business.?

No, I get that AI and I think that is why its about 115p give or take rather than 50p. Its just the actual home test that had the market (and us) galvanised but the drip drip of delay combined with other tests being available has resulted in a slow downward re-rate of the stock from where we were about 2-3 months ago.
I think the SP could still explode but I just don't think the market can "afford" to price it in yet. It will have to react rather than be in front of it as perhaps it has been until recently.

AP but we haven't got a validated test to sell. That's the problem. one of AVCT USP's is that it could reveal asymptomatic carriers in the test.
That's now out there and being used from tomorrow. AVCT have not got a timeline on when ours will be released, It sounds like its another 6-8 weeks away at the earliest but who knows?
And thats actually quite a long time in the land of new covid tests and vaccines coming on to the market. Having said that I am sure the market has already priced this in. so it should make no difference, and also AS has vaguely intimated "other Covid tests that AVCT are working on.
But its no coincidence now that the SP has settled to around or about 5% below, the placing price. Covid is I think now being largely priced out of the AVCT valuation and any income will be seen as bonus. It could still rocket the SP but there is such uncertainty surrounding it (not that we won't get there but when, and how many tests will we be able to produce and at what price?), that the value it is being side lined by the market.

Moderna has filed for reg approval of its vaccine. maybe AVCT are involved with their inhibitors?

Interesting psychology at work here:
On the one hand, given the Q4 deadline(s) for various strands of news:
As the days pass by it increases the odds of a positive RNS being released so buyers should comer in as less time to wait and current holders won't sell for the same reason.
On the other: Every day that goes by without an RNS starts to raise the "fear" that no RNS will be released, (or at least delayed) and so buyers wait and some holders nerves go and they sell.
Although Derampers get a lot of abuse (some of it justified) for causing mischief, and "panic" selling, rampers also by raising false expectation that then does not materialise also can cause shareholders , expecting great news is about to break and when it doesn't, to also" panic" sell.

Well if no TT necessary, but no testing at scale complete, does that not infer TT has not even started with another supplier?

and earlier in the RNS:
"The development of an Affimer-based lateral flow antigen test that can be manufactured at scale being carried out in partnership with BBI Solutions has made substantial progress." Again, a test to prove or confirm that it works at manufacturing levels of scale, rather than confirmation its done.
There was imo actually little of real substance or that much progress in the RNS. It seemed to me the RNS was just about the nasal swab development and informing the market about it, and the rest was padding.
I still think its still all coming, but at the same time timelines are being managed to the end of Q4 and now Q1 I think.
Even if I am misreading it, it, shouldn't be this ambiguous imo.

Rusty, you would have thought so... but that Monday RNS.... it really was a game changer for timescales. PL75's valuation is spot on imo. re the RIP FOMO thread.
Covid is out of the reckoning for now, price wise. Too far away and too many other test to come on stream before then for the market to get excited about our current non available "test". I said earlier I think all we have to look forward to is the Bams news but even that now I think market will wait and see it delivered in an RNS before it prices it in again due to the slippage in other areas. Whereas last week it felt it really was "any day now" I am thinking more like 3 weeks, just based on how slow everything news-wise has turned out to be. But hey ho, I am sure we will still mange to write 500 posts a day and manage to wind up/bore/ insult/ ramp/deramp and amuse most, if not all, on here.

gmcc: if it's vague or ambiguous or simply not clear then I would assume its not any particular progress worth highlighting and simply a time-buying insert.
RNS's are very important: its an opportunity to update the market of amongst other things, price sensitive info that has to be shared in the public domain for all to see at the same time. If its price sensitive info you don't and indeed can't, leave it to "interpretation".

ES, I will happily give it a rest now, but its interesting you don't want to hear of opinion that contradicts your view, but presumably are content to listen to positive posts all day?
And just before I do go, I don't expect to sell out at a loss on this stock, I was merely pointing out that after 6 months (where, just go back and read some posts), the expectation here was £5-£20 per share by Xmas, and the reality is somewhat different.
I lose money occasionally on my decisions, of course I do, its the cost of doing business (but as I say i don't expect this one at this stage, to be one of them), but the majority of my posts here have largely been in response to others comments to me, such as this one. GL

DOh, again and I don't in any way criticise you for this, but its difficult to get a tone across in an email.
I'm not mournful, sad, depressed, or anxious but I am not starry eyed either. I only buy stocks that I think will rise in value and make me money. If they don't, then my judgement and decision making progress might have been faulty. I then retrace my steps to see if It was me or events beyond my control that caused the poor decision.
I based an expected rise in the SP on the RNS released and some posters on here who seemed to know what they were talking about from a technical point of view. That led me to believe this was a company right on the cusp of explosive growth. 6 months on, the SP is down about 20% from my average and seems to be at about the same stage in development as was described in June. My personal problem is that the delayed release of products has left money tied up in here that could have been put to much more profitable use elsewhere. That's ok that's down to me, but in hindsight, it feels as though I have been strung along with the "promise" that the release of news of so many strands of the business were literally any day.
I still think AVCT will show a good return but not now at a level I thought likely and not in the timescale I originally envisaged. Hence I have sold down my holding and already this week every other stock I'm in is up.
The expression "time is money" is everything to me. I am not getting this week back. Its gone, forever, and when you realise you are born with a life expectancy of around 4000 weeks it should help concentrate the mind not to be wasteful of them. (Well it does me!!)
