I think its much less than 18 months. The OEM that Euro n cap decide to buy to test will need to be in the showrooms in January 2020. My mid 2019 an OEM must be buying and fitting so its available for testing.
I cannot stop thinking that the SEE value is what one Titan will pay to block all the other Titans from the technology. If they all need SEE it must be worth a couple of years head start for AV having total control and how better to force the OEMs to take take the Titan audio products in their cars if they want your Auto DMS to meet Euro Ncap within 12 months
Lexus monitor on front door pillar14 Sep 2018 11:46
Lexus announced yesterday they are fitting a monitor on the front door pillar with a camera fixed where the wing mirror would be. What else could be in the monitor?
RE: Training an autonomous vehicle13 Sep 2018 20:27
I agree. 6000 miles per year as a low number would give 60bn Toyota miles, if the car ran for 3 years 180bn miles. Unless its waiting for the results later in the month it can only be the cost per device to fit and the profit that can be made. Many of the test vehicles in the states do seem to be Toyota. But could / would the Titans share the data?
Around the 16th August I took a note of the significant shareholders on the SEE investors page. It stated it was the notifications as 16th August. I have periodically rechecked that the date had not changed. Today I looked a little closer. The figures are different, but it still says the 16th August. The total number of significant shares has increased by 1.17% . A couple of holdings have dropped slightly but Polar Capital have appeared at 2.84%. I think 3% is the trigger for a notification to be made. All the other significant holders have a description that I feel confident that I can ID the company. Polar Capital leaves me with a slight doubt. I have found an investment company that starts Polar Capital and it may well be them but why not use their full title, or at least nearly its full title? 60+ million shares is a significant amount and they did not appear on the 16th August. Why has it gone on late? I guess the positive is that big investors have taken a bigger slice.
If we have a new product that some big companies all want at the same time can we not say - yes, but we are not having a NDA attached. What other options do these companies have?
I struggle with the idea of SEE having a contract with all the three / four autonomous vehicle companies. If they all need the software then why would one not buy SEE from the petty cash box and delay the testing of the others at a stroke.
I posted this last week. It was dated the 6th September and was from Apple.
Apple patent application describes using AI system to make driving safer. Article says this Patent was found on the 6th September. It seems to describe hazard spotting on the road with a suggestion to highlight hazards to the driver. I guess this would work very well with a DMS to see if the driver had made the same observations.
Can an OEM fit anything into a car and pass ncap? Does Nauto meet the criteria ? Do we know if Nauto are just commercials vehicles? Toyota may be forced to follow two paths to cover 10m cars.
I would have thought current contracts could calculate fleet savings by more aware driving techniques. 5% improvement is said to be worth a typical £12000 to the bottom line. Bit more from Insurance company !
At least at this exhibition SEE are next to a Tier1 , i know is owned by Toyota. Do SEE not need the confidence of T1s. If you fail to convince a T1 why would they support installation of your equipment for OEMs. That would be looking for trouble from OEMs big time.
The mind map that came out a few weeks ago about the SEE business does not show Nexty. Not sure if that is good or bad.

I understand the building of units for the OEM but I am not sure about the chip stage. Can I seek clarification on what SEE will actually do to get DMS into a car.
Will SEE place an order to a company to manufacture a chip which is sold to a Tier1 by SEE? Will the chip company deliver the chip to the Tier1 or does it come back to SEE? or Will a chip manufacturer make, sell and deliver a chip to a Tier1 and make a payment to SEE for each chip sold.
If SEE have such a good relationship with Caterpillar why not ask them for help. They must know how to supply , fit , install and bill. or more of a wild card Samsung, Bosch & Apple all have UK telephone help lines
