Stiff upper lip chaps, we're British. In civilised countries it is licence not license when it's a noun; licensing (with the s) is used when a verb. We're not another american state; YET. Whilst I am appreciative, as a not unsubstantial shareholder and a relative newbie of just over 12 months standing, I always wonder on what evidence the more positive (or even negative) vibes from posters are based upon. It is inside information, guesswork, merely hopeful expectations, 50/50, they've asked a friend, or googled fellow punters.

Hi Danpoe353. Maybe I have just done my usual and jumped in with both feet. I am an usual MU supporter; possibble unique; 'I'm Scouse born' but as I was adopted I had been a supporter for a few years before I became aware of my heritage. .Even then it did not matter as Liverpool did not rise to real prominence until the 70's. I left Manchester in Sept. '58 for the white rose county so I was away for the rise in animosity between the supporters but I feel that was caused mainly by jealousy by MU fans. I even found brothers in the 70's who, although not big football upporters, were aghast that I had become a Manc. (They were Wresters; one was a Commonweath Champion and Olympic competitor, Melbourne and Tokyo). In the sixties everybody loved Shanks, so my respect for Liverpool comes from him. Like Sir Matt and Sir Alec, he took a struggling club and laid the foundations for a world famous club (with help from Sir Matt). They like United were built on their supporters not on oil, dodgy russian money, or american / far eastern money grabbers.. But on my visits to Liverpool where I have met a fair number of former players of Liverpool and Everton, I have never had a problem A bit rough in the 80;s which became a bit quieter in the 90's and after. However I found them very respectful towards all club and good players. My apologies if I read you wrongly. There are the wrong type in every club; it's all about money and winning nowadays. Cheering on Lewis Hamilton at the moment; not keen on him but he's British.

Danpoe353 it is people like you that make me realise that I saw the best of football growing up in the fifties.. You didn't go just to support your team, but also to watch the other teams' stars; Matthews, Finney, Liddell, Haynes, (Jimmy Mcilroy), Len Shackleton, Lothhouse, Sam Bartram, Bert Trautmann, Billy Wright, to name but a few. I have memories that I treasure standing with supporters of other teams enjoying the artistry of players of both teams. Of course we wanted to win and I was fortunate never to have seen MU lose until after Munich (0-4) to the Champions Wolves. Great Days; 9d to watch Edwards Taylor, Charlton, Coleman, Bryne, etc. The first graffiti I can remember seeing was years later on the outskirts of Manchester on a return visit. 'Shankly died of Aids'. I can still remember the horror I felt wondering what type of person could paint such an insult.. After your comment, I now know. Good luck to the Scousers tonight; I'm a Man United supporter of 64 years but will be firmly in their camp until the last minute of injury time when they are 3 - 1 up. Hi Rafafan. I have the Oxford Book of Quotations New Edition (4th Edition); Christmas present. Love reading it, rather browsing through it. There are some quick witted people. In the garden today but keep looking to see if anything of interest has appeared. Yes, I can be sarcastic and of course I have my standard reply. GLA and patience; if anyone has any of the latter spare I may be needing to borrow some fairly soon.

I have checked my book of quotation and I am unable to find any reference to any quote that alleges sarcastic people of full of s..t. Sorry
