I'm wondering about how the sensors are used as with an electric motor you can get a good idea of the torque simply from measuring the current being fed to the motor.

I suppose if you measured torque on some shaft you could work out the losses between motor and wheels however I also think a lot of EVs have motors directly attached to the wheels.

It's not a *massive* problem in the normal world of things. There are errata with pretty much all microcontrollers.

I think RPI are held to a high standard, as in the past there have been very few problems with their hardware (and almost none with software), and so an erratum like this is more obvious to everyone.

There are three workarounds:

1) Use external pull down resistors (needs redesign of your circuit to add an extra resistor to every GPIO where you need this).

2) Use internal pull up instead of the pull down (needs circuit redesign and may involve extra components).

3) Enable the GPIO, do the read, then disable the GPIO (doesn't need any extra components but I expect this will slow your program down a bit and won't work with certain programs that use the PIO).

The real pain is that the Pico 2 is not a drop-in replacement for the Pico 1 because of this problem.

for me the bigger issue is how this wasn't picked up earlier.

WTF are you talking about! Investing in a share at its low point is much better than at its high point!

I wish I'd waited before investing in RPI but here we are. This company has a significant future, they just need to find some leadership balls to resolve the Pico 2 issue, which is a small issue in terms of revenue IMO.

Hopefully this share will be missed by the pump and dumpers if it just increases incrementally rather than a big daily jump.

There have been problems with the Pico 2 so I can only assume it's some late dumping related to that.

New product just released. The Raspberry Pi 5 2GB. Again, seems to be aimed at mass industrial consumers who run headless systems (-> no GUI) and need the computing power but not the memory. Cost is £47 which is £30 cheaper than the 8GB mode.

I think also most home users don't need the extra memory so it will be good for them too. Apparently the cost is the same as the original Pi when inflation is taken into account.

I certainly think that home delivery could be a mitigation if shops like Coop have to close due to shoplifting.
