RE: Why digital is the key to success for neighbourhood health7 Aug 2025 17:01
It could be interpreted as a frustrated dig at the policy, and real asking for a gov real ownership of neighbourhood services working together and sharing information in a collaborative way but I Interpreted it with more emphasis on the absolute need for NHS - both primary, secondary care etc needing to be joined with, to be given access to share client info / Care plans more closely ( shared records) with local authority social care, I.e social services, including housing, debt, community care OTs etc and who ( local authotity ) are responsible for long term care in community ( in peeps own house) they give out contracts locally to not only third sector voluntary groups and charities, non profit company’s to provide very much needed services locally such as McMillans nurses, diabetics , age uk, Alzheimer’s society, debt counselling etc but private businesses contracted to supply crucial services to the local neighbourhood , via contracts with local council such as home care, nursing homes, …often lack of these services locally cause bed blocking ….so imo, I’m feeling Toms is emphasising the digital investment will need to be more than just a national NHS digital revolution but must include access to all neighbourhood supporting services as the NHS services are only one side of the coin ……every body lives in the local neighbourhood , and their time In hospital is usually just one chapter of care that lasts just so long, but the patient may often still require care at home, it will continue, change, once they are discharged into the care of the local neighbourhood community care services. Proper joined up health and social care communication ,regularly updated on a digital patients health record .
