It's not just the smart meter plan thats been massively under funded in the budget. Solar only got 0.01% of expected funding and below again, smart meters got no funding. Who do they think will be financing the proposed 250 million meters...the private sector, maybe the telco company's....at 4 rupees per chip per month , I don't think so,

There is talk about the sincerity of Modi,s recent budget bonanza for the energy sector. Some saying that the amounts quoted are not likey.
It was the same in 2018, vast amounts promised which necrosis materialised into posative action.
It's the same old cliché. ..judge a person on what they do, not what they say. Just saying, but if true ( I have no idea), could be reason for the total delay in progress from CC s reassuring October 2019 RNS ..that ng awaited business contraxts expected over the comming weeks.....that was six months ago? How else can anyone explain this .....there is a fundamental hold up some where.....ModI would have us believe it's not down to funding...so what else could it be? CC were absolutely confident on signing up to three deals very shortly.....not one has appeared.

Amazing how the world has changed in just a couple of months.....I'm hoping to catch the virus soon, get it out the way before the herd catch it.
Now is the best time to catch it imo, it may be just low level, if not now is the time the NHS still has capacity to treat you....don't leave it to late. ...don't follow the herd lol. Get in now while the doctors are still on their feet.

If GPRS covers 98.5% of India, as mentioned in the report..then big IF, CC get the remaining 1.5% as RF then CC may be asked to be involved in approx 3.5 million out of the potential 250 million meter deployment over time. Tony, if correct. .this should answer your query about will CC be in every meter produced by Hexing, LT, etc

We are going with GPRS and possibly looking at the NB-IoT (Narrow Band-Internet of Things), which is a specialised band only for machines on a GPRS kind of a network. RF is a good technology but it does not suit our business model because it is capex heavy (requires capital expenditure to build a new network) due to which our cost per meter would go up to Rs 6,000 per meter. It is Rs 2,500 in the GPRS system.

Also, with RF, I will have to build institutional capacity to maintain that network. The benefits of GPRS technology is that I am getting data cost at a very reasonable price of Rs 4 per SIM card per month. And the availability of the GPRS network is 98.5% in the country.

I am not saying that moving forward we may not look at other technologies. We may. For example, in multi-storeyed buildings you can have an RF-technology network because the data from all the apartment meters will come to a single DCU and from there go to the GPRS network. So we may look at a combination of network technologies going ahead."

i don't think there are any winners at the moment . if a company releases brilliant news, the sp rise will be muted, if there is a hint of negativity the sp will be hammered. ...but i'm wondering do CC have to put something out this month, on the new march year end ? or can this be delayed yet again?

We're now living through unusual times.....I don't remember a situation such as this in my life time.....pretty sure no one knows what the next few weeks / months will bring ...but the Italian situation will be taken as a foreboding.....
As far as investing is concerned .....I can't see any advantage in any company releasing good news during this period, let alone anything remotely negative .....can CC kick any update on performance further down the road ...or are they now committed to news end of March?

i notice the FTSE 100 hits its lowest level since 2016 yesterday. If AIm follows, does that mean that CCs share price goes back up to 30p. haha

Tony. But the type of communicstion etc the meter manufacturers put inside their meters will be dictated by what solution the utility want ...not the meter manufacturers or EESL. Wouldn't gprs or rf need to be put inside during manufacture...
Have EESL put out a tender for meter manufacture with rf comms inside..?

Regarding the EDF & EESL 5 milion smat meter tender. It is EESL who will supply the actual meters ....and EDF will be responsible for their operation. EESL will but the meters from Genus , Hexing etc etc via a separate tender.
