Lots of headwinds - coronavirus increasing - travel, tourism and eating out taking a big hit. I said £38 coming ... didn't expect it in less than a week! I think I will adjust that to £32 coming in 6 months.

...now there's a surprise. Officially they say "There is currently no change to advice for airlines. Our flights are operating as normal and all our terms and conditions apply." However, when this correspondent attempted to re-book onto one of the Monday or Friday flights still purportedly being operated, he was told that all services in March had been cancelled. The contradictory messaging raises doubts about whether the scheduled services between Italy and Georgia will go ahead. Sales for another eight routes from Italy to Israel and Jordan were suspended last week when those Middle Eastern countries imposed travel restrictions. Bookings for Ryanair's Bologna-Podgorica route have also been halted due to a travel ban by the Montenegrin government. Ryanair appears to be signalling that it will not honour compensation claims under European consumer protection law EU261. That regulation states that passengers who are scheduled to fly to or from the European Union on any route exceeding 1,500km are entitled to €400 compensation if their flight is cancelled within two weeks of the date of travel.

Companies are telling staff not to travel in the whole of Europe not just worst affected countries. Who knows when the virus will peak? Recession is inevitable.

American companies are banning employees from all non essential flights. This includes intra European and they are also deterring employees from taking flights whilst on holiday and at weekends. You just don't know who might be infected on a flight and the air-con systems help circulate the microbes around. Banning flights will just delay the peak in my opinion. No temperature checks are being done on passengers on incoming flights or ferry ports. Basically, if you don't get it - the virus is here and uncontained. We'll just have to deal with it and the inevitable knock on effects on society and the economy. The govt needs to tell us the truth and take more stringent measures to stop the spread.

Today - first British death - passenger from the cruise ship. Maybe could've been avoided if Japan had better procedures in place.
Now, we have the first patient to actually CATCH the virus in the UK, ie not from abroad. So who is the source? Isn't everyone infected in the UK supposed to be in isolation? Obviously they're not. The news is getting worse every day and this virus seems incredibly contagious. COBRA meeting on Monday - need some serious action from government, a bit more than wash your hands and self isolate FFS.

Another case of fumes on plane - been quite a few reports now. Easyjet and BA are trialling filters. The BBC report is very concerning.

Wonderful to see the lovely Greta Thunberg at Bristol today and hear the inspirational speech she made. So many people braved the rain for hours to demand action. Fewer people should be flying and governments must act to do something about it. I wish more people would care about the future of our planet. The flooding is evidence of global warming. Good also that 3rd runway at Heathrow has been declared unlawful and Bristol airport expansion has been stopped. It seems the youth are driving this agenda forward and I hope the budget on 11th March will support this have some measures to increase Air Passenger Tax and impose measures that will force airlines to reduce carbon emissions.

New coronavirus cases confirmed today in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Croatia, Greece, Sweden, Norway and Romania. New cases in Europe are higher in number than China. Seems to be no stopping this thing. I don't know if Ryanair fly to all these countries but I'm getting price alerts on skyscanner that my Ryanair flights (ones I set up to monitor June/July prices) are now very much reduced in price. I think a global pandemic will soon be announced.

I DO read RYA's terms which is why I generally choose Easyjet if possible as I can bring a normal sized cabin bag as it's priced in up front. Ryanair lull you with their so called "cheap" price then at the end after trying to sell you insurance/cars/hotels etc. you get told you have to add on £20 for each person for your normal sized cabin bag. It's not just me either. There's a reason Ryanair came 100th out of 100 in customer service - Which Survey 2019. See below why 150 million people a year must be numpties.
