Looks like planes will be grounded for about 5 months (i.e. ZERO INCOME) as schools are now closed and most of Europe in full lockdown. Strong Sell - buy companies that can make a bit of revenue in these trying times.

Agree, look for companies that can actually make some money over the next few months - e.g. hand gel producers.

RYA are Irish so won't be included in getting our UK tax payers money. They also go out of their way to employ cheaper Spanish and Polish cabin crew. I expect the govt. bail out money will be targeted at UK companies that employ UK workers. I have written already to Rishi Sunak to ensure this is the case.

Yep, 4Bn burn easy. 2400 flights daily, 80% lost. How many seats is that daily? What's the avg price for a seat/flight? Over 70s suggested may have to self - isolate for 4 months. So that's 120 days refunds by end of June. BTW, once a country locks down completely that's 100% lost not 80%. Not to mention summer / autumn bookings will take a while to get back to full capacity. Add in parking fees for 1000s of planes, maintenance, wages, redundancy payments, overheads. They will also lose revenue from not just flights but all the extras that add up - lost cabin sales and fees for extra baggage, referral commissions on insurance, car hire, hotels, etc.

The coronavirus epidemic in the UK will last until next spring and could lead to 7.9 million people being hospitalised, a secret Public Health England (PHE) briefing for senior NHS officials reveals.

The document, seen by the Guardian, is the first time health chiefs tackling the virus have admitted that they expect it to circulate for another 12 months and lead to huge extra strain on an already overstretched NHS.

It also suggests that health chiefs are braced for as many as 80% of Britons becoming infected with the coronavirus over that time.

Wow, that's exactly the same amount I used in my back of an envelope calculations a few weeks ago. I reckon their 4Bn cash reserves will be burned by end of June - refunds, staff costs, parking fees, etc.

keep EZY and BA afloat but RYA are Irish so no hope at all of survival and nice guy Mikey might want to cut his losses and declare bankruptcy and sod the shareholders. The SP was around 8.6€ last August with the strike problems. Now he's telling his employees to take unpaid leave - what a nice guy. I don't know how legal this is - surely employees have contracts and rights?
Not long to my 8€ prediction, but probably a lot lower.

UK airlines have asked the government for a package worth several billion pounds, as they warn they may not survive the coronavirus pandemic without emergency financial support.

In a stark message, Airlines UK said the government's "prevarication" and "bean-counting" had to stop.

"We're talking about the future of UK aviation - one of our world-class industries - and unless the government pulls itself together, who knows what will be left of it once we get out of this mess," it added.

As I predicted, Spain (Ryanair biggest destination) is now in full lockdown. The FCO advises against all but essential travel to Spain due to restrictions put in place by the Spanish government in response to the outbreak of coronavirus (Covid-19) . Transport services will be operating at reduced levels. Public gatherings are banned, most shops other than those selling food or other essential items such as pharmacies will be closed, many businesses and all schools and universities are closed, and all citizens have been instructed to remain at home except when going about a limited set of activities in particular to buy food or other essential items, to return home to their primary residence, to go to hospital or other health centres, to go to work (if unable to work from home), to carry out caring or similar duties or in case of real need.

France, Poland, Ireland and Austria also have imposed severe restrictions due to Covid-19 outbreaks.

At this rate, RYA will have trouble paying their bills over the next few months.

Agree. Sage is fiddling his violin in some dream world while one after another European countries shut their borders and go into full lockdown. Spain is now poised to order nationwide flights stopped on Monday and UK Covid death toll has doubled in 1 day. I gave Sage enough warnings but he just calls me pond life. Meanwhile RYA is 60% off where it was 2 months ago. Whatever.
