Thieves and fraudsters21 Apr 2020 01:21
Like many people, I have been promised a cash refund as I requested, only to hear today after several weeks’ wait that I have been given a worthless voucher for future travel with this utter disgrace of a company. When the crisis started Mr O’Leary was quick to reassure everyone that the company was profitable and very secure, having made a fortune last financial year, and being underpinned by 4 billion in assets. Why then are Ryanair effectively expecting their hard working customers to provide them with an interest free loan for the foreseeable future? Lie has piled upon lie, and you cannot trust anything that these fraudsters say. Consumer law and EU law are very clear over the fact that in the case of cancellations, customers are entitled to a cash refund; there is no ambiguity over this. The initial stalling tactic to buy time was to claim that they had staff shortages due to their customer service staff self isolating, and now this has turned into the claim that because these staff are working from home they are unable to process refunds for security reasons. Why? All other reputable companies and organisations are managing to do so. For Ryanair to decide that their financial needs are greater than ours at a time of great hardship for so many people is utterly reprehensible and unforgivable. The choice of a voucher for flights that we are unable to take and therefore clearly not worth the paper it is written on, or of being placed in a queue for a refund once the coronavirus crisis is over, is not a choice at all. The management of this company should be in prison. And low cost fares; please! That is as much of a con as anything else about this rickety wagon of snake oil salesmen.
