Thanks for the welcome lemmink but I have been in and out of KAZ over the last 4 years, probably at an overall loss but this year has been good. I probably would have been better off holding rather than trading but there you go. Just sold half at 796 and put in CEY.

By doing your trading in public I mean announcing what you are doing on the discussion board so that people can see whether you have got it right or not. For instance I am considering taking profit from The KAZ I bought at 740 and putting it back into CEY if it falls low enough.

Do you find doing your trading in public influences your decisions, Tricky? For the better or worse? I think it helps.

Hi Tucson, yes more or less back to normal now, thanks. On the question of timing - yes I have been quite successful this week with CEY and KAZ, but I have also done quite badly recently with SXX and POG. With day trading its a matter of swings and roundabouts. I think I am ahead on average, but I only use about 10-20% of my holdings to trade. I am up to about 15% holdings in KAZ now so will probably hold for a while

The share price predicts the future, but the future of what? Partly it is the dividend and profitability of the firm, but partly it is the share price itself leading to a loop in the logic. If the share price falls investors fear further falls. If the share price rises confidence goes up that it will continue to rise - until it reaches improbable levels (this process is behind much chartist analysis) How far into the future can the market see? Not very far in my opinion. Sometimes it is really seeing into the past as the latest figures are taken as a proxy for the murky future. The market is also very wary of uncertainty and will wait until uncertainty is resolved. This will happen in the case of CEY in Feb / march for some of its issues

I bought �5k at 740 early this morning as I thoght the drop was an over-reaction. Perhaps I should have bought more.

Sotolo, the chances of your mood actually influencing the sp may have been exaggerated by my earlier posts. On the superforecasting question can I report on my diapog measure which was actually doing quite well when we were in the $1270s, but which has now fallen back now we are back in the $1280s. This makes me marginally less optimistic

I am also back in, but I put a little bit in KAZ which dropped very suddenly this morning. I wasn't quite as patient as you Tricky, so my average was about 134.5

Some people are cashing in, probably some of them day traders who hitched a ride when they saw which way the sp was going. However it seems to be holding up quite well considering. If an institution is building a stake, then they will probably let it ease back a little and then start buying later today.

rather than day trading, is that it is difficult to know when an undervalued share will suddenly take off. Possibly we will get an RNS about a major institutional investment soon.

Is the sector rotation against miners, gold miners in particular, over now?

Hi Istabraq, the debt at year end was calculated on the hedged price of gold at $1250ish. Not all of our sales will have used this hedge facility (and I assume we don't have to use it if we don't want to) and if gold prices continue at their current level there is a realistic chance of the debt being reduced below this level by a significant amount. In a full year a premium of about $50 per oz over the hedge price would be worth over $20m to us in increased profit
