It is definitely zero sum. If i shorted on Friday, it would have made no difference on Monday as SP opened up at the TERP +- a percent or so and would have been adjusted, i.e you would be short more shares than before to the same ratio of outstanding shares prior.

I couldn't be arsed faffing with brokers about rights, so simply sold and bought back...and made up the broker fees with a bit of trading.

Barclays is always a buy sub 100p. 55p wont happen unless there is another full lockdown; the likes of March and April. Any government opting for that will commit economic suicide and put them decades behind others, cause mass protests and the phrase "welfare state" will become a whole lot more literal. This is why no country will dare to go back into full lockdown, and to date none have. Countries that have the best economic recovery will pray and swoop on those weaker countries.

Pick up cheap shares on the media hysteria causing mass hysterics and the government "officially" not ruling out a 2nd lockdown, whilst "unofficially" have ruled it out. Of course the masses need a little incentive to obey the rule of 6 with threats, so its quite right that this should not be officially ruled out otherwise there will be zero compliance despite what the stock market does in the short term.

After the large 3m trade which i personally think may have been a buy considering after around 122p mark which was the trade price of the 3m trade, the SP moved up violently.

Then we have a persistent 10k and 15k block seller despite the SP creeping up today. Would not be surprised to see another large trade posted after hours as someone is clearly buying the dips here. Perhaps JPMorgan?

Not all trades go through the Market makers. Only O type trades go through MMs via a "market day" trade which executes immediately, but this can also be obfuscated by dark pool trades. A type are order book trades, and UT is the exchange of shares left on the order book close to each other at the end of the day which determines the closing price.

Dark pool trades are the large trades that pop up after hours that were likely executed during the day. Dark pools are for large investors that want to offload large blocks of shares or buy large blocks. Kind of like an order book for the big boys, but execution is via a different route and usually in specialist exchange venues so as to not affect intraday stock movement and for large IIs to hide their intentions.

Today just proves how silly it is to be selling whilst the price is this depressed. The tiniest spark is required to make the stock explode upwards. If anything, you should be increasing holding as this dips sub 120p.

From north London to stanstead, and luton to north london. Very surprised to see the coach at least half full given the quarantine restrictions in virtually every country. Prices gone up a little but still decent value, still cheaper than the train and was very impressed with the interior as they have upholstered the chairs leather which are much easier to clean. Everything felt very clinical and fresh, much much more so than a train and loving their new coaches.

I got talking to the driver. He was saying how national express have significantly reduced service in many airport runs to focus on the most profitable routes (London vic to north london airports, gatwick and routes heading up north from london airports), and laid on more buses on these more popular routes. He was also saying how demand has surged for cross country routes such as london to liverpool, and the SW as the staycation effect kicks in. Despite cross country routes being less profitable, the surge in demand has resulted in each bus being at or very close to capacity.

They seemed to have reacted very fast and efficiently and continue to do so with the ebb and flow of government restrictions and passenger demand. All in all sounded very upbeat and certainly seem to be relishing the opportunity to compete with national rail services in popular UK holiday destinations with more direct routes and more frequent service that perhaps they would not have been able to break into so easily pre covid.

A) drift there (implies an mcap of 1.59bn)
B) Stock split
C) Rights issue

Your SP prediction of 80p therefore is no longer valid as it is based on a reduction in Mcap. Therefore you must adjust to take into account the new Mcap after the RI.

Therefore your adjusted prediction is approx 32p. lol

Indeed casapinos. To announce a rights issue without a qualifying date will cause understandable confusion among shareholders, but as you say the Spanish government is the likely stumbling block here.

I see many have reported that their brokers are stating that they will not be entitled to the RI if they held no shares on wednesday. This is FALSE as no qualifying date was announced, so the shares have not gone EX rights yet. If they did, the SP would have dropped to.

as opposed to MARS & JDW. The effect of the new rules banning people in gathering of more than 6 shouldn't have too much of an impact on restaurants and bars. 95% of covers are for groups of 6 or less anyway, and larger families are exempt from the rules.

8% drop yesterday on NYSE after hours, a hilarious drop for this sort of news driven by US traders who don't have a clue. I put in a massive order at around 5% less than yesterdays closing price this morning, alas nowhere near triggered it. Nice to see the UK investors in AZN have far greater knowledge on such halts to trials.

The question was not why FTSE is well off its high. The question (or more like a rhetorical statement) was the extraordinary gap between US and UK market, even in like for like sectors. I can guarantee you, if LLOY or AZN were to join the US markets tomorrow, they would instantly be valued significantly higher than what they are on the FTSE, far beyond the usual premium for being listed on the US markets.

This gap is unsustainable short termism and will correct itself in time. Ftse is nearly par for today, whereas US markets are still down heavy so the gap has started narrowing over the last 3 or 4 trading sessions. A long long way to go however.

US stock market surge to all time highs = Ftse100 down
GBP strength on improved brexit sentiment = Ftse100 down
US Tech bubble bursting = Ftse100 down
GBP weakening massively = Ftse100 down

You have to ask yourself what it will take for this dog of a market to turn. The value gap between FTSE 100 and US Stocks is extraordinary, yet still the UK markets just cant catch a break. When will the tide turn for value stocks? I'm guessing the tech bubble burst will cause a mass exodus from them to value stocks. This just needs time to filter down and for the penny to drop between this gaping chasm in value.

Theres an article over at the motley fool suggesting the SP could quadruple from here. They have always been bullish on NEX but for good reason. I probably wouldnt hold on for that long, but in the medium term there is no reason this could not get back to 300p+

The BP asset purchase is not a mistake. It is the last roll of the dice for Premier, a do or die situation.

If premier did nothing, they drown in debt or dilute to oblivion to pay off debt. In this environment, more likely to drown.

With BP asset, they may, if oil holds, keep their head above water whilst paying down debt with "only" significant dilution as opposed to a total wipeout.

These Ftse 250 oilers in the long term however must adapt or become a thing of the past. For starters, mid tier oilers must coagulate to weather the storm of the massive investment required for breaking into renewables and have a trading arm which acts as a natural hedge in this industry. If not, 20 years down the line they are dead or will be absorbed by the oil giants with the power to weather any storm for pennies on the pound. A very ambitious and imaginative CEO is needed to save PMO in the long term.

Indeed. Very happy to see today's action and well overdue. Of course the ftse will have an initial hissyfit but the penny will drop and investors will finally realise value stocks are at a record low vs tech.

Here's hoping the ftse can close the MASSIVE gap in performance. Ftse is heavily value weighted so as techs sink, I would like to see ftse rise after the initial panic. I'll be buying on any tech crash dips that reverberate into solid value stocks

To see the flip from tech to value today. The initial reaction has of course been panic on the ftse across the board but I'm hoping sense will prevail and tech/value will recalibrate and this could be the beginning of the rising of the battered value stocks.

The sole purpose of falkland is to dissuade newbies from purchasing 500 quid of NEX shares. The ironic thing is, look how he decimates people with alterior views over on lloy. Much much greater cause for concern in the short and long term there than here.
