So the delay (if there is one) is likely to be due to Avacta getting this done so that clinical trials start with devices that are secured as being final (not work in progress). Cytiva and Klaus have done this before so not sure why fingers pointing at them?

Then again maybe this just takes time. Pulling a “2 weeks” figure out the air raises expectations. Maybe the expectation was incorrect? But

just a quick head up in case anyone missed it. Avacta updated about the lab based ELISA test. There is a video on that BB about what it is etc, but shows affimers can grab spike proteins at low concentrations.

Given that a community poo test and any potential breath test would need to grab spike protein, I think some risk has been lowered for this share. Affimers have been shown to work well. Surprised at the movement of SP today.

Elisa is put sample in a little pot, add magic sprinkles, and look for colour change.

Bams is a method for grabbing virus particles to concentrate them, zapping them in a special machine where they give off a nice coloured light

Without getting too technical, systems like those on lse are pretty basic. You can write a program that send a string of letters and numbers pretty easily. In an hour with the right heavy metal t shirt wearing coder.

They can log in, find a page and find a button really easily, modern browsers come with tools to do it (goto top right, select tools to look).

What gives it away is the jump from 0 to 55 in the space of minutes. Poor coding. Why not ask someone to post they voted....

What’s the story I’m UK about testing. Stockholm you can get current infection tests at drive in or sent home. Antibody test is a drop in center in shopping malls. You can get Chlamydia tested at same time, good to see opportunity to attack second disease being taken. These tests are all free and available on demand.

Rest of Sweden doesn’t have the same.

In UK are the current tests widely available. Do you pay?

It’s a nice thought. Affimers would need to go through human trials. That would be long process. Safety and then do they work. But it’s there on the horizon, not just any time soon I think.

I’ve been poo pooing antibody tests. To stop infection I don’t rate them.

But one of my kids is +ve antibody, another is -ve

Strange how we now discuss one can see her grandparents the other can’t.

For fighting the virus it might not be so good, but psychological aspect knowing risk/not risk help guide action.

Antigen test in 15 minutes or less is still my vote but I see usefulness of antibody test.

Boost lab test to pool samples where rates are low. Video somewhere on this.

medium term, monitor whole populations without testing individuals to find hot spots/increasing infection
