Hello EnergyChap, as you rightly say you do not have inside information. However what you are doing is taking advantage of the situation to scare SP down and it is working. To my knowledge Utilities are not going for one meter supplier because they cannot be sure they will produce millions out of hat at short notice and at the right price. In the case Itron I did hear, in passing, that a UK Utility found them too big to fit under stair cupboards. Not exactly a technical reason but a reason. By the way Greengrass loves you.

Thanks for that EnergyChap. In your opinion does that affect CC. Last year E.On engaged CC but probably more for the RF infrastructure updating.

There are a lot of unknowns lurking at present. BI income may drag out but equally expand at a rapid rate if the factory alterations are on time. UK installations could speed up if Utilities start to offer night time tariffs on the main circuits with smart meter; whereas there had to be a separate circuit for Economy 7 etc., that means customer can pick and choose, just a matter of looking at the clock tick over.
LTI, I can judge how old you are having seen you several times and I am no doubt older than you, so I am probably senile, LOL. I retired at 53 possibly too young but had an intensive seat of your pants career making decisions on a minute by minute basis, often lives were lost. The old cartoon of Fat Controller comes to mind. I wasn't fat.
I made many contacts in London being based in the Westminster area which proved useful.

LTI, my take on the service enhancement is that just maybe Toshiba has taken the upgraded 'Omnimesh'. Connode's original contract was for a very basic version, all those years ago. There may be advantages in that 'Ominmesh' is IoT capable.

LTI, I would not bother. Nobody really knows what stocks are in existence. With UK we are I believe only supplying software with no DCU's . With BI, yet to come, we are being paid for letting them embed it, with the Indian embeds who knows what arrangement was made, may be no charge.

Like all of you I have some concern over SP. If there is any possible signs of income CC PR should be giving information.
I thought we were on the road to break-even Q2/3 until JC told us about the 500k meter advance that Connode negotiated. It was probably necessary for their survival to that point.
Hopefully with the new regime of installing Smart on a time basis of customer application CC RF should pick up quickly in areas such as tower blocks. So the 500k should soon be breached.
My eye now goes back to BI, if this 300m India target is to be reached in 3 years, unlikely, then all of these meters (Smart) have got to be magicked up from somewhere. If, just if, BI incorporated CC RF in all of their new Smarts then it will be the likes of them that produce these millions of units. We are in with the other Indian major makers so there is a good chance that CC RF could be sitting dormant in many meters waiting to be switched on. That is the KEY (pun), as unless required CC software will not necessarily go in Utilities Control Rooms but used in the Canopy System just linking up to other meters. So we have either a complete set up as with Mysore or purely GAP fillers linking up.

Hello jake.. That could also be said of EESL.
In the case of the UK I think that many Contracts were well over costed around the millennium and still doubled in price. What company would turn down an open wallet. The local authority contracts that I have seen do not usually get re-assigned unless there is an almighty c*** up that goes public. Don't forget CC is only doing the RF and is contracted to Toshiba, so is unlikely to have hiccups. Just wait to the stage where it produces cash.
Old ground, I think Anil from Mysore onwards stands a fair chance of making good headway. He has massive contacts to the top.
Last thing keep your eye on BI. That is coming online in next 2 months, unless we hear otherwise. We don't know the nuts and bolts of it yet but its not costing us, $4m profit for nowt not had. If India cannot produce enough reputable smart meters to meet PM Modi's demands then who better than BI with CC's protocols in them to produce possibly millions.

Any ideas why they were not included in SMETS2.
Of course money may be the key considering how much cheaper SMETS2.

I was going between North and South America and EU. Probably most of what I said stands except may be RF, yet to be looked at. I will relook at it tomorrow but they mainly deal manufacturing meters.

Hello jake.. at first thought that you would make a good politician, high-lighting your bits and passing over what you don't like. Then I thought no he is just Trident mad, admittedly I may be classed as similar by some but at least I am on the right BB.
Did not say Trident were solely responsible but just that they were part of SMETS1. I may be wrong but I do not think that Trident are involved in RF anyway.
My previous comment was that CC solely have the RF 'not spot' for Southern Contract, if this is not the case I would be eager to know. So please don't do what someone else does on this BB and skip around the answers.
I know people who follow Trident, the company is big but already has a lot of commitments around world.

However when SMETS1 failed to meet the Government standards required and SMETS2 was created. The question you have to asked yourself is why was not Trident involved in SMETS2, may be they were do you know.
The SMETS1 disaster had to continue because the Government, as I understand left the deadlines in and SMETS2 was not ready, so Utilities had no choice but to whack 14m of them in. In the meantime the Government engaged a Lab Co to try to resolve 'dumb' problem which they did. That is why SMETS1 that are installed will remain in for their lifetime.
. The RF element for SMETS2 was offered solely to Connode because notspots resolution was as the missing link.

Hello jake.. I don't think anybody disputes that there are other RF's in the market but I seem to remember you were banging on about Trident. I said to you Connode (now CC) were given the SMETS2 RF contract and they the only ones that can supply Middle and Southern UK contracts, unless you know otherwise that is a fact.
Now Trident were involved in SMETS1 which was a disaster and have been used now to make good on the 14m meters that were finally installed, a lot to replace, due to Government deadlines that Utilities were still being held to.
I believe a Lab Co were used resolve problem and I should imagine been paid handsomely.
The bottom line to all this and where CC apparently cannot be matched is pricing. SMETS2 costs a fraction of SMETS1. You have to wonder why, poor management or an overpriced contract. You can work that one out but still not good.
