Antibody Tests Oversold?19 Apr 2020 10:05
Researching came across
https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-01115-z
most antibody kits have not undergone rigorous testing to ensure they’re reliable and no country appeared to have a validated antibody test that can accurately determine whether an individual has had COVID-19.
I conclude the antibody tests have been oversold and more importantly I conclude that the FDA EUA process is a flawed process. I would seriously advise countries to implement the WHO test recommendation for covid 19 testing, the Roche or the NCYT PCR test.
Time in a pandemic is a commodity in short supply.
What this report and the WHO comments on antibodies tells me is that I am invested in the right technology and the right company. PCR and NCYT.
The scientific evidence agrees with my investment decision. As the Govt keeps saying... follow the science. Glad to have confirmation!!
Test, test, test
Note:
I had not been aware of binding and neutralising antibodies. I was not aware that tests do not detect the neutralising antibodies, which prevent the virus entering the cell, but rely on detecting binding antibodies as a guide to how many neutralising antibodies there are.
I can now totally appreciate the need for TESTING the tests.
Really pleased the UK took this approach. Very methodical and correct.
FDA?
gla, you are in the right company at the right time.
Test, test, test
