CEO on Thermo Fisher on R4 Today around 7:09 (9/4/20).
TF can supply 100k tests/day.
Tests, reagents, instruments supplied.
26 sites, 5000 employees.
Supply beyond April done locally in the UK
Boots, Amazon logistics will send test to 10 centralised test centres then from here to one of 3 big hubs for assessment.
TF looking at an antibody test, but focus on PCR swab tests.

So Government sorting 130k + tests/day from early May. Well done Boris.

did you manage to listen to Pascal's interview on R4 Today (8/4/20) around 7:32?
Only additional info I learnt on Peston was that Thermo Fisher will be supplying test kits to the PHE centralised test centres.
So PHE (as I had assumed) have gone with NCYT and Thermo Fisher tests for the UK PCR testvwith the aim to provide 100k tests/day by end of April.
Roche (other WHO EUL test) test not mentioned.

NCYT with PHE hospital tests could be supporting 50k tests/day = 1.5M tests/month.
Excellent outcome for UK and NCYT!

In 10 patients, antibodies could not be detected at all, which could also place them at greater risk of a secondary infection, the researchers warned.
“Whether these patients were at high risk of rebound or reinfection should be explored in further studies,” ....
Perhaps the PCR test and the LAMP test is the way ahead???

30k tests/day = 1M tests / month. Well within NCYT production capacity.
Any thoughts on duration of the 30k tests/day requirement?
Now wondering whom is supplying the other 70k tests/month. I had assumed PHE and Thermo Fisher using the centralised centres. However, I was somewhat surprised by the omission of Thermo Fisher in the WHO Emergency Use Listing document.
Not liking loose ends, I therefore think some of our questions to RP still require some answers. Especially around which test Thermo Fisher are supplying to PHE and the conformance result to positive test cases from the PHE assessment.

Is this antibody as a test or an antibody as a pallative to mitigate the immunity system attacking the body thereby causing the need for ventilator and perhsps ending in 50/50 call wrt death.
AZN CEO on R4 Today (7:32 on 8/4/20) indicated the later for AZN part.

From the interview with AZN CEO, my main conclusion is that AZN are acting as facilitators. The main contribution is from PrimerDesign.
Bodes well that PrimerDesign will be the cornerstone of the UK new Diagnostic Capability!

Interesting that AZN CEO said AZN are working not on a vaccine but an an antibody that suppresses the bodies immunity system from attacking itself. This is what is happening when you need a ventilator.
With this and the input from the Peto report us a vaccine needed? Perhaps, but at least ee have a Plan B in case a vaccine is 12-18 months off. The country now has hope. Well done PrimerDesign.

AZN CEO also said AZN are providing help with the national effort to sort the components in the PrimerDesign test.
6 items are difficult to source, but no doubt the best in the country are working on it, in order to provide a large contribution to the 100k/day test requirement.

VanV, I wish the government would publish, as I have said so many times, detailed Gantt charts demonstrating how they intend to make their 100,000 tests / day actually happen - precision plastic tubing and micro pipettes, lyses reagent, transport media and everything else.
I just don't have confidence that that there is an adequate grip, notwithstanding Matt Han****'s determination, of all the intricacies of making it happen.
Gantt charts could be something to prime Peston with, again?
