I’ve just topped up. Based on previous experience of my “astute” reading of the market........we can expect to fall another 5.5%!

Anybody know why the market has reacted so badly to the results? What am I missing?

I think you’re right Charlie but it does say something about the short term out look of the market. Surely a year ago people didn’t expect $125 a barrel to be sustainable? As MOY says, we’re still making decent profits at $75. Am I right in thinking that the divi policy is still based on average PoO of $60?

Strange to think that it’s only 12 trading days ago that we were in the 530s. Now 530 looks like the stuff dreams are made of. I think there are too many variables to make even educated guesses about where we are heading.

I’d be interested to see if Barclays decide to adjust their £10 target. If they do, I don’t imagine it’ll be in the upward direction!

Google’s gremlins gave me a bit of a fright this morning. The normal search gives you the US price. If you add “uk” to your search then you will indeed get the London price but for some reason it’s the 8% preference share which comes in about 160p. A bit startling when you’re not fully awake!

Looking a bit more encouraging. I know we expect a “Santa boost” at Christmas. Is there such a thing as a “coronation boost?” Anybody remember the last one? Meoryou? You’re old enough aren’t you? (Tee hee!)

I’ve rechecked my figures. High was 570 in Feb following Q1 results. We’ve dropped to 474. That’s 96p or 17% so not far off my 20% rough figure. I am not saying that we will not recover. I AM saying that the last three days cannot be treated as insignificant.

We’ve dropped by 11% in three days. We are 20% less than our high of 3 months ago. There is nothing “slightly” about that!

I think you were looking at the SP figure in the top left corner of this page. It was still showing erratic pre opening figure till 8:15. Sadly, there’s no upward progress yet.

Yes. I never really understood why there was such a massive rise on the release of the February results. They were certainly good but not significantly better than the previous 3 or 4 quarters. The only significant thing was the slight increase in divi. Yet SP rose 16% in a week. Today’s nonsense seems to be the exact opposite of Feb 7-10.

Well, we got through by the skin of our teeth. With 83.25% we’ve just about managed to hold off the 16.75% of turkeys who wanted to bring Christmas forward. I’ll sleep easier tonight.
