Colin, you wanted a drop. Is 30p enough for you?! I myself am not unhappy about it. If it lasts till 6th April I’ll get more transferred into my ISA. These fluctuations (like those caused by Trump’s tariff tantrums last April) present us with great opportunities but it’s not for the faint-hearted.

Personally, I will be more than happy with a short term fall if it continues into the new tax year. That way, I can get a few more shares into my SSIsa. A further divi-drop on xd day is another chance to get more in under the £3000 CGT threshold. If only I’d bought them in the ISA in the first place!

Thought the chart must be upside down. 12p gain on xd day! Regretting having sold most of mine at 467 a few weeks ago. That’ll teach me!

Sorry. I misread the chart. It was 13:50. Still a significant dive.

What happened? I had to check that NYSE hadn't opened an hour early due to changing the clocks for Daylight Saving but that doesn't happen till end March. Not the first time we've seen a remarkable downturn at 1:30 not 2:30pm.

This "civil society" is also one where namby-bamby judges rule that an organisation that uses criminality to further its aims (Palestine Action) cannot be banned as it isn't "terrorist enough". The result is more smashed-up banks (HSBC in Buchanan St Glasgow has no windows left) which results in more claims on insurance so WE pay for it. Nothing justifies the atrocities committed by "Israel" but smashing-up offices in Chorlton-cum-Hardy or Ashby-de-la-Zouche isn't going to stop them.

I topped-up in November and then again this week. Worryingly, AV now makes up three quarters of my portfolio. The downward spiral started about an hour before NYSE opened. What surprised me was the late morning gains. Bad day for me as my other big holding is Aviva with a 3% drop. Biggest daily losses for me since the Trump shenanigans last April. Let’s hope for a similarly sharp recovery.

Yes Detector, With the child benefit now paid to families with umpteen kids (and we know who they are), somebody has to foot the bill. A nice way of buying votes and also penalising people who work hard. They’ll be rubbing their little hands in joy tonight. They must be almost as happy as when they slapped VAT on school fees after making the state system in many areas so toxic that sending your kidto one of their schools amounts to child abuse. Anybody surprised?

Shatter, apart from the economic argument that you point out, there is also an ideological argument against the ISA changes. Isn’t it wrong for a LABOUR government to be encouraging “fantastic and amazing hard-working families” to invest their “hard-earned savings” in stock market speculation? I thought that we caPITalists were supposed to be the enemy! I’m showing my age. I can remember the flat caps and Clause Four! lol

A 42p (more than 6%) drop isn’t nothing. My modest top-up at 668 is now looking a bit silly. Let’s hope today has just been an overreaction.

Today just shows what a nonsense the market is. Oil spikes so we go up over 3%. Everybody forgets the gloomy trading update for a day. Tomorrow, oil could be down again and, if so, we’ll get punished. No rhyme. No reason. Still, it adds a bit of zest to life!

For the umpteenth time I am regretting not selling when we reached the 440s. That 450p of mine always seems within reach then one bit of bad news (like a war ending) sends us down. We have no resilience. At the mercy of every fluctuation in PoO etc.
