My thoughts on the court case. As others have said, how restricting supply is meant to decrease demand and consumption I do not know, it might raise prices I guess. But the fact that private companies are being targeted in seeming isolation will just shift production to national operators or asset divestments will be to smaller players, they will still produce. It seems a knee jerk decision. I mean, are Netherlands going to sanction car makers, Saudi, companies that use plastic?
I think the media has gone overboard with it this last week, writing bold headlines. If this is all supposed to happen by 2030, and we get to the point where the payout yield (from buybacks and dividends) can get to about 9% at current prices, we will all have been cashed out in about 10 years anyway.
