I note with interest that this time last month you were saying it was a buy at 3.15 and an "easy buy now and wait for £4, nothing else to it." What has changed apart from your feelings? And that's a genuine question. You may indeed be right in what you've been saying today - I wouldn't know.

It's mystifying really. One possible is a very large seller in the background like a sovereign wealth fund? Has anyone been watching trades and volumes here? I haven't.

Can anyone see a rationale for recent >5% SP recovery? I know natural gas has been on a tear for a while but it's down 2% today and we're up 1.7% so it doesn't seem to be that. Also x-div date not til 2nd Sept. Has there been some news in the background? Oaktree deal is old news at this stage.

I was wondering if any of you have ever moved money between shares to capture dividends and how it worked for you. For example I hold LGEN for the 4 moth period in which 7% yield is payable and then move into another high yielding stock. Perhaps even repeat the switch a second time.I'm fully aware of the price drops on ex dividend dates but obviously the SP recovers at some stage afterwards. Does anyone here have experience of doing this and how has it worked? Did you target any stocks in particular?

Geng and Tacet I've been looking at your posts with interest. I know little about TA and charts. Can I ask your opinion of what the charts indicate the SP range will be over the next month or so. Do you see support holding at 280 or could it reach 262 for the GAP to be filled? Or lower to 240 as has been suggested? Also where do you see the upper limit in the range over the next month or so? Is your strategy then to sell at the upper limit and buy at the lower one?

It just beats me how anyone can think a price of £2.86 is a good price to sell their shares at given the recent sharp drop and the upcoming results. Obviously upward momentum this morning so far but for every buyer there has to be a seller willing to part with their shares at this price.

"Bed Wetters"; how intelligent and what a wonderful contribution. I would be more interested in finding out how the projected SP of 220p was arrived at. Fossifool was looking at a TA chart gap of 262. Nothing would surprise me here. Interpersonal insults are irrelevant to me.

Yield is 5.1% at this price. RDSB is at 3.6%. On reflection I can see Looney staying with his stated goal of "fixed" dividend for the next few years. I believe he implied that again in his recent Bloomberg interview? Correct me if I'm wrong but one poster here implied so . And by the way I don't reply to derogatory personal posts here; they don't affect me.

Does anyone here know when we should expect the declaration of amount of next dividend?

I bought more BP at 3.05 two day ago. It was a no brainer. I have about 25 years of investment and trading experience, so naturally I knew I was onto a good thing. Also I have an innate superior intelligence so I cannot go wrong. £2.95 is just a number to me. This share now represents 10% of my entire portfolio. I am never wrong. I am always right. If anyone wants trading advice, send me an email at totalidiot**********. I cannot guarantee a reply in the next three days as I am inundated at the moment. No I did not say 'under water', I said 'inundated'.

This is no investment; it's a trade. I'll be in tomorrow again on this share for a few weeks. Musk will shoot off his mouth again or some other red herring and I'll be out.

I understand the potential opportunity with miners but I would have thought sometime in August would have been a better time to sell; i.e. after results and during recommencement of share buybacks? The only other resource commodity stock I'm considering is Evraz, which did well for me before I sold and pays a very good divi. I sold at 600 and was hoping to get back in again below that level. fossilfool, I always read your posts with interest though my understanding of technical analysis and charts is limited. Perhaps make a solid prediction such as Oil price will be in this range X at end Aug and BP share price will be in Y range - based on your analysis. I note your analysis leads you to be bullish on both of the latter. Lines drawn through channels and waves means little to many, so maybe translate your findings into firm predictions. I suggesting this I am not taking away from your work or analysis. Thank you for your interesting posts.
