"Buys showing as sells"; Every buy trade requires a seller. It's a conundrum; a Schrodinger's cat thing! Get over it. I've been listening to this same complaint on message boards for years. Same with 'Market Makers manipulating the share price'. Right, maybe a bit but ultimately it is supply and demand that determines the share price. There are no evil clowns to blame! And I would have a similar opinion about 'rampers' and 'derampers'; and I laugh at the idea that some people actually think that these people get paid to 'deramp' on a message board!!!! Delusional. B.S. The market decides the sp, not some w***ker in a wardrobe with his mother's iPad. I'm invested here; was in at 1.5p; so a long way to go. BUT I am well diversified and overall I am well up on my AIM shares.

MarkGo. The IBM example is startling and it does illustrate that BP through buybacks are simply flushing money down the toilet that could be used to pay down debt or increase dividend. Complete waste of money.

Well, Brent has been in the mid to high 60's for most of Q2 so it will be an even better quarter than Q1. Share price should logically be around 3.50 by July; well, assuming that the market behaves rationally!

One blind spot that more experienced dividend investors may be able to help me with. Is the ex-divi drop due to MM's automatically adjusting the price downward by the equivalent of the dividend? Or does it happen as a result of market forces; i.e. those who have been waiting to sell until the ex-div date and who execute their sell orders at 8 a.m. on that date?

This article showed up yesterday and the basic argument is not to buy BP based on LAST YEAR'S performance! I have never read such drivel in my years of investing. I see BP as a buy now and have added more after last month's trading update.

Profpuff that was very well put!. Especially the socialist stock market bit. I totally agree with the share buy backs; I've never seen them having any noticeable impact on a stock price.. Debt elimination should be the number one target and then any other free cash give us a bigger divi.

Hi CSDI. No, dividend not paid yet from Stocktrade. I'm distributed over 18 individual share and four funds, so while I do keep an eye on share prices, I don't monitor dividend income; I just assume it gets included in my cash balance at Stocktrade. Obviously not. I have been more vigilant over the last couple of years because of a couple of red flag incidents. Firstly an IAG share 'adjustment' appeared in my account and when I asked them, they were a bit vague about it. Secondly, they had started charging me about 400 per annum for holding 'non-crest denominated stocks' such as AAPL and MSFT. So I have learned to watch cash history closely with Stocktrade. I'm fascinated that you are chasing them for 'compensation'. As my divi is only a few hundred I prob wouldn't pursue! IMB is one of about 18 stocks and the minnows on the AIM have done so much better for me. In fact I used profits from EUA to buy FTSE 100 stocks after COVID had decimated my pension fund. Tell me more about compensation, CSDI!!!

If I wasn't over-exposed already to IMB, I would be buying more this afternoon. Had a look at Phillip Morris rise today, though Atria down. Wow what good news! Great buying opportunity; just one look at P/E ratio and dividend is good enough for me.

CSDI, I called Stocktrade yesterday and they told me they were aware of the delay in divi payment and were following up with IMB. I'm not sure where the fault lies, whether it has to do with the takeover of AT by Embark. They say they had not received the funds from IMB.

Yes, net selling today ahead of tomorrow's price drop. I'm still learning about dividends. One aspect that interests me is the price action on dividend payment date and a few days afterwards as automatic reinvestment of dividends or scrip dividends have the effect of causing the price to rise - in theory anyway.
I tried the dividend capture strategy with a number of shares a couple of years ago. Needless to say it worked only about 50% of the time, which is to say not at all it seems to me, though I didn't keep a close record.! In addition my trading costs were through the roof. Learning is a costly business. What do people think about above on SP post divi payment date?

I have an average of 3.72p. I think apart from the surprising news recently, this is a nice steady riser and has resumed its steady upward trend. I am also a relatively small holder; total value at the mo is just over £5k; I would never commit more to any share on AIM. I also hold EUA which has been a fantastic performer, ARCM and CCZ was a recent addition. Sold out of SYME as it appears to be a total dog. I've been very fortunate on AIM in the past year; EUA transformed my portfolio. Yes I'm sticking with HZM for a year to see what happens.

Have been looking at this company for a while and I like the prospect of positive news flow when they acquire assets during the year - which they have committed to doing. I bought in at 113.6p today. The 10.7% yield was a big draw for me too. I had been pleased with my investment in TOTAL SE which yields 7% but had a shock today as my broker tells me that the French Government retains 30% of that in tax. I also hold LGEN and IMB for the high yield. Also BP for oil price recovery as economies open post COVID....hopefully. TOTAL SE I will probably sell as that info came as a nasty surprise.

Yes CSDI, same commission. Re divi payments delay, I plan to phone Stocktrade today. A couple of days delay I will overlook but still have not got IMB dividend due 31 Mar. That's ridiculous. Also Evraz pay date was 7 Apr and it's also a no show. Strange as my BP divi was paid promptly.This undermines my confidence in that I wonder if any previous dividends were not paid; I don't keep a close eye on it as I just assume it gets paid on schedule. It's my pension fund that I partly hold with them.

I don't mind waiting for for the broker to pay the dividend. I too am with Stocktrade / Embarq. My annoyance is that they wont do scrip or reinvest automatically. It prob makes little difference in the long run but I like the idea that something I am holding long term is being added to every quarter. I'm a fan of dividend payers and also hold LGEN. Sold EVRAZ this morning in the hope of buying in later in the year at a lower price. I'm looking at transferring the proceeds from EVRZ to DGOC. ...any opinions?

Yes of course; the P/E ratio is so low - can't understand why the market is not rushing to buy. I'm holding as it's only a matter of time before the market recognises value. I think of Warren Buffet's aphorism about the market being a weighing machine in the long term and a voting machine in the short term. However I think a re-rating to a more realistic valuation will happen in the the next few months. I'm now down about 5% having bought 2 years ago. But the 10% dividend has way more than compensated for any capital loss. How log is it since you could get 10% per annum from a bank? 50 years? Lol. No brainer!
