It was bizarre but you could track the US reconnaissance aircraft tracking the Venezuelan oil tanker on Flight Radar yesterday. So much for secrecy!

We humans (Warrior1 excluded as he is another life form), tend to bury the key part of what we write in the middle of an email, letter or statement. With the statement about the incoming CEO, the middle part of the statement reads "........responsibility for significant revenue growth and P&L performance, execution of complex fundraising and capital strategies, and experience across mergers, acquisitions and business transformation".

My take on that is that the focus for the CEO will be to raise capital for rapid expansion, rapidly drive up revenue (and hopefully profit too), possibly deliver some mergers and/or acquisitions and, ultimately, sell ALRT.

All IMHO, DYOR and ask the bin man.

£240 million is 0.37% of the MOD's forecast £65 billion budget for 2026/2027.

And we should not forget that a new organisation, UK Defence Innovation, has been established with an initial ringfenced annual budget of at least £400 million starting from the 2025/26 financial year. This unit operates with more flexibility, like a venture capital fund, to rapidly scale up innovative prototypes. I believe that that is where ALRT is focused at this time, not in delivering projects the likes of which Palantir has secured. If and when it proves that its technology will be of benefit to UK defence, then ALRT will be able to go after the £ multi-million projects in competition with the likes of Palantir.

Now call me cynical but could Grumpy Trumpy actually be interested in Gaza (he says to bring peace to the Middle East), Greenland (he says because of US security concerns), Ukraine (he says to bring peace to Europe) and Venezuela (he says to stop drug trafficking) because of:

"Greenland holds vast, largely untapped natural resources, including significant deposits of rare earth elements, iron ore, graphite, zinc, gold, copper, uranium, and potential offshore oil and gas, with melting ice exposing more reserves".

"Venezuela has the world's largest proven oil reserves as well as huge quantities of coal, iron ore, bauxite and gold".

It is perhaps interesting that all of these countries have natural resources which the US can only dream of.
