Below is an extract from Plexal (City) Limited's accounts to 31st March 2025.
Principal activity
Plexal (City) Limited ("Plexal") is the innovation company dedicated to addressing society's most pressing challenges by
fostering collaboration between government, startups, and industry. Our mission is to bridge the gap between
organisations-large and small, public and private, local and global-leveraging science and technology to advance
national security and prosperity.
What we do
We empower entrepreneurs, startups, and scaleups developing emerging technologies across sectors such as cyber,
healthcare, intelligence, defence, government, public safety, financial services, and telecoms. Our core offerings include
innovation consulting and co-working facilities, enabling our partners to accelerate growth and impact.
Government partnership
Plexal delivers projects for key government departments, including the Department for Science, Innovation and
Technology, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and the National Cyber Security Centre. By adopting a
whole-of-society approach, we unlock innovation and collaboration to achieve mission success, harnessing emerging
technologies to protect society and drive prosperity.
Review of the business
In the financial year ended 31 March 2025, Plexal reported an operating loss of £581,973, marking a decrease of £191,449
from the previous year's operating loss of £773,422. The improved financial position was achieved through 8% growth in
overall revenue. Excluding the impact of non-recurring revenue associated with the construction of the co-working space for
Workshop Minster Exchange Limited in Cheltenham which was completed in July 2024, revenues increased by
£1.047million. This improvement was achieved on the back of a 13.4% growth in consulting revenues. On the contrary,
Plexal's workspace revenue contracted by 9% from previous year, however, the strong growth in consulting pulled overall
revenue ahead of last financial year. The business operates across two primary segments: Innovation Services and
Workspace.
So, Andy Pandy, who is not listed as a director at Companies House, was working for a loss making start-up mentoring and workspace providing business. Where is the relevance of that to an AI defence technology business?
