Dustofnations.;
BTW, my NdP is testpack3, not testy. I shall refrain from calling you dusty, which infers a layer of unwanted particulate matter ( in most cases). Now. below is a comment of mine followed by your response; My response will give 'testy' some grammatical vindication.
> The good news is that Big Oil would rather see this 'green' technology used, rather than the much 'greener' Hydrogen Fuel Cell power units for commercial shipping.
'Bit of a sour comment at the end there! I take it you are an investor in some HFC company?'
I am invested in a variety of companies, some with conflicting environmental and health concerns. It is commonly referred to as a Diverse, and Risk Mitigating'. My wish, based on environmental and health concerns, is that fossil fuels could be finished with, Worldwide, in a generation. Not going to happen, so 'run with what we have'. At the UN inspired S Korean conference ended last w/e, the aim was a significant reduction in the manufacture of plastic products, particularly 'one use'. It ended with quite a few countries vetoing the motion. The talks failed. The vetoing nations were the oil producing counties. Lays bare their hypocrisy of their 'green' agenda. It is to placate the 'green' investors, and is merely words. Proven by Shells decision to 'pull out' of their UK grid of H2 filling stations. It's not wise of them to blame 'no demand'. How can there be a demand when there is no fuel supply. In any event, at moment, HFC EVs for mass market use are much too expensive. The way forward for cars is Solid State Battery EVs. Now to shipping power units. You mention H2 low energy density, even in cryogenic state. This is incorrect, ask any rocket engineer when powering Saturn 5 rockets with liquid H2 and O2. It has a low mass energy density, when gaseous. Your words echo the playbook of Big Oil. What you and they omit to say, is the mass energy density of hydrocarbon fuels is higher, because its Calorific Values are higher because, in layman's terms', there is more 'stuff' in there. More stuff means, when burnt, more gaseous products, of poisonous oxides of C, N, S , plus quantities of carcinogenic particulate material. It is a 'dirty' fuel. Burn H2 in air, you get water vapour. Always remember, for any power train, small or immense, an electric motor has immense advantages over ICE's. on every measure. You are typical of what Big Oil hopes for in investors. As for storage of H2 on vesse;s, there will come a time, hopefully within 2,3 generations, when vessels of any size will have HFC power units, using sea water as the H2 source from electrolysis, electricity from wind and solar power , For many centuries, we travelled all the Worlds seas using only wind power. Big Oil will spend it's considerable wealth to thwart this. Wealth before Health should be their Mantra.
Apols for length, and invested here hoping for some super returns in the next decade.
