Looks interesting folks especially as it is only now two days before a share holder meeting. Perhaps he is confident of a successful presentation with fund managers/share holders/investors.
I see he is already making money as the share price is now moving up from his purchase price of last Thursday and so he must have felt the price was good value considering the timing and what is coming for the future prospects?

It appears today the govt released stronger retail sales for Alcohol compared to general consumption which will help Looks like we are just starting to respond to the better news out today. Or are we being re-approached as a takeover target?

(Alliance News) - Marston's PLC on Wednesday said it returned to more normalised trading despite Covid-19 disruption in the 26 weeks to April 2, allowing the company to swing to an interim profit.

The London-based pub chain operator reported a pretax profit of GBP25.6 million in its first half, swinging sharply from a loss of GBP105.5 million the previous year.

Revenue surged to GBP369.7 million from GBP55.1 million. Like-for-like sales stood at 97% of 2019 levels despite restrictions over the Christmas trading period.

No doubt the Directors will be taking up their share options at this rate!

Which makes it an even better value longer term to me - after all if the firm is being run by a chief exec with an accountancy back ground he knows he has to keep up with his pricing so like everything else at the moment prices will rise with sales. At least as he said if this is a local pub which are showing signs of recovery most will be walking there and saving on fuel driving to one in town?

Next set of results will be an even brighter future with earnings per share now profitable at 3.1 pence per share as opposed to last years (14.6) pence loss per share.
Happy to invest further now there is growth.

Total - I am actually expecting some very good results and will be surprised if they are not based on us coming out of lockdown and when comparing to other entertainment stocks such as Whitbread and Compass, and well lets face it even Greggs are seeing a pick up. The funny thing is when people are down they go for a beer to make themselves feel better. I remember Wetherspoons saying that when the banking redundancies took place beer sales went up! I also seem to remember that one pub would have all those being paid off and another with all those being kept on! Should be interesting tomorrow however for the results and if we actually get another other interesting news!

If results are better which lets face it judging by its peers they should be improving, then this share price looks very good value and we should see a step up very soon..
I have been away from this board from some time and yet when I come back I see the same comments from the negative few. Well lets hope for those with a more positive mind set we can all have a pleasant surprise tomorrow.

Talking of which I see Marstons are moving towards aero emissions -shame my Shogun doesn't have the cheaper road tax -never mind! As supply line fears remain. As we said before a very good place to be in here and our other Oil producer at the moment. Most have held and gone up today as one would expect.

Would love to see another release soon as Glen must be making unbelievable profits from the raised commodity prices. Also can see soon gas being produced from the coal convertor plants to supplement that lost from Russia. Perhaps the World will have to allow this process back on stream for the short term at least. .

Opec agreed to moderate increase supply yesterday I hear and we should benefit if we are allowed to open up the West African pumping a little more to make the most of the higher oil sales proceeds. Possibly a great safe haven here whilst other shares are struggling. Also agree with others on here it also helps with a stronger USD to be selling in USD as profits when converted back to GBP will look even more impressive on this occasion.

Most Oil producers are producing massive profits at a time when most other sectors are struggling and many fund managers will see this as a safe haven sector for a while yet. I cannot see the war in Ukraine coming to an end anytime soon, and demand will remain high with out the west taking Russian oil and tapering what they do take for the next two years. With sterling falling it would point towards dollar earning comps as being the place to be -this being one of them. IMO.

From their own web as a highlight for YR End 2021 - so Like with BP the profits will have significantly increased inline with whole sale prices and this share is doing far better than many on here have said l will put this down as a strong buy.

It has an effect as the signal is Oil producers produce at the minute big profits and with bumper profits for BP as well as hopefully for Capricorn/Cairn if they want to expand outside of Russia then BP may well come looking for smaller Fish and we should keep an eye on our share price - which is more than likely to soon start moving up quite swiftly soon? i.e. it will be far cheaper for them just to buy up others than to start new fields a fresh, particularly as they want to move into renewables longer term where bigger longer term investment is required

Glad I kept all of my shares and even topped up last week, etc. Broker sentiment for this stock is good too with the end result in price moving up to a higher level. Also lets face it most other Oil producers have already moved north and so it was always going to come in time where a producer on recent posts said it was able to up its production in expectation of the rising prices, and it was right. The next RNS could be interesting if one of the other big oil producers can see a cheap easter egg!?

I was told by my broker that it is the intention to buy back a certain amount but not definite. Whatever is left over will be given back to shareholders as a divi. from the Usd1b award/agreement. Know one share holder can know where they are at the moment , or their thinking, and so we must expect further updates as they go along. Glencore did exactly the same thing as they went along their buy back program. I am willing to be patient the 1b cannot be a bad thing for shareholders in the end. The share price is also reflected in the Oil Price which is very volatile at the moment and we must not confuse the movements on a daily basis as a complete reflection of the so called offer as other issues also come into play. Remember also the Company itself wants to buy back at the best price to them, and so it suits them the current price to gain more shares from sellers. I am certainly not giving them my shares cheap and I have kept all of mine for future gains! (as they have by moving what they do buy in treasury!!)

PP-This when it starts will not take 2 yrs. It will be very short, sharp and an upturn at the end. the announcement may have been the last day of the UK tax yr for a reason. They will not want this hanging around long!
