If as reported when the election final votes were counted the vote was 50/50% for the current govt and the opposition I wonder how much real power the current regime actually has? i.e. Does the new idea actually have to pass through any Peruvian parliament or congress? If so it may not even be passed, and certainly if the local people are employed in the mining industry they certainly will not want to lose their jobs or income.

Agree as the last election was virtually a 50/50% vote over the two candidates and as the govt. has changed twice in the last 2 years perhaps a change is afoot, but I am not so sure the overall current govt. has full control over the local provinces in any case? i,e, if the local govt. has granted extensions to the mining licenses it will be difficult to overrule a local economy that does not want to subscribe to the central govts. intervention if there is no will or intent to do so?

The Peruvian govt. may in fact shoot themselves in the foot by being too greedy for future profit share? i.e. If I were Hochschild I would retain the North American Rare earths and gold mining businesses for the time being and move more into the other South American Countries such as Argentina. The Peruvian govt are not exactly going about this the right way as surely they would be better to encourage expansion for a greater income than the threat of retraction. Hoch has been operating with the same family for over 100 years and so one would like to think they know their own business better than the new Govt of Peru. which recently has changed every year in any case.

Punitive damages in an international court of arbitration ordered towards a UK Registered Company on the LSE will no doubt attract double digit compound interest charges - Good news for Hochschild and if you can get it!
I see this dispute settle quite quickly but a very good day for day traders who bought in at 70p.

Looks like 50% up from todays lows of 70p and Hochschild will have political risk insurances to protect them from the South American Political risks situation to seek the best business lawyers in the world to protect them. With compliance and licenses in place this stinks of interference and one for the international court of arbitration which will cost the Peruvian govt a fortune they could not afford to lose. I see a compromise coming. Mr Hochschild himself is also a very powerful man so they may have picked a fight with the wrong Company?

Locky - I am the same as you and know the airport well and this airport was absolutely flourishing before the lockdown. Who would have felt they would also now even have their own station on the Liverpool St, Mainline. This makes it a very good airport for business pax. into the City. Perhaps this is why they now have some big backers such as Polygon Guernsey who I know used to use Biggin Hill but that airport does not have a train rail link into London and the A21 is a very busy Rd. I can see this returning back to form very quickly now and even the net assets of the Company itself have doubled in the past 6 months to GBP100m per the last official release. Sentiment accounts for a lot and yet some on here (non investors) always appear when our share price rises up and seem to indicate they are in and then out of this share almost on a daily basis? All very strange but one is entitled to their own way of investing. Mine is longer term that a few days or even a days trading. From what I said earlier today the market shows little regard for negative comments on here which have no impact where even Hargreaves Lansdown account and release as said "Today's news out of the US that Pfizer has developed a Covid-19 pill, which is 89% effective in preventing hospitalisation, may well be weighing on the AstraZeneca share price a touch, but it has pretty much turbocharged the airlines and hospitality sector". Shame only a minority do not see that positive Sentiment has such a great effect on price although what I have seen from the B.O.D recent releases the future looks bright in any case! We are all entitled to our own opinion I suppose. It is good to see now quite a good looking corporate backing coming in as major shareholders here too. Schroders and others are no mugs!

Income in profit from the Bio Mass and cargo logistics doing well. Control tower now expected to open in the new year for return to Pax. Recent constructive talks ongoing for a return to the short haul airlines. The two new anti Covid pills have turned the market around today with sentiment growing fast to the entertainment and travel sectors which is the reason for todays 4% recovery start.
Doomsters will be crying over their shorts tonight!

All travel and leisure now moving up fast on sentiment. The new found pill could open up the travel markets. Most travel and leisure comps now moving up fast. We can now be very positive for the future (as said yesterday evening). The new US jobs numbers helps us too, and Biden is pressing for his stimuli to be agreed. All positive factors -sorry to disappoint any doomsters who have been on here for some time!! If anyone wants to sell this share now they will be sorry I am sure.

I will keep this short!! I really do not understand why people spend so long trying to force a share price down when it is to rise!
Not long for a less Hazzy future and cure from the Pandemic. Sentiment will improve as the shorters turn long and the share price will start to wait for it... "Eskenlate".
Really good news that once again the Uk has shown the lead for a total cure to Covid -thanks to Oxford!

ICAG announced today as well as the recent updates from (short haul airlines) that they have seen a pick up in pax. numbers and Ryan Air actually have even seen an opportunity for flight price reductions to catch the Late Winter holiday bookings. It looks like the recovery in the aviation sector is growing enough for Esken to say they will be re-opening the pax. traffic in the new year (where they prev. announced February 2022). Perhaps the momentum and return to form is quicker than we were even hoping for. Fingers crossed for a great opportunity here.

Should help any firm such as Esken who were doing really well before the pandemic and have only needed some financial help due to the lockdown, can see support from the B.O.E in Not raising borrowing rates. As the growth comes back it may even give them time to re-consider other financial options to stimulate growth further and provide further security not that they now need it. Their last financial statement showed a ship starting to come around and sail toward an even keel.

No increase in loan rates should help any firm such as Marston's both re-value its loan book and consider other options, whilst also giving the public additional spending with more money in their pockets!
Not so good for banks however who will see the continue squeeze on their profit margins!

Certainly is to me! I can see very positive comments coming from the BOD and Results for the past six months have shown that the Net Assets in the Company have doubled. The Energy side are contributing far more than forecast and even the Aviation sector is seeing benefit from logistics growth. We have to remember all of this is only for figures up until August and since then we have had increased energy prices for consumers which no doubt Esken will benefit from, and the govt's recent budget declaring lower duties for short haul and Hoteliers/entertainment establishments who are contributing into the figures mentioned. Talk of re-opening from February is referring to the new year as discussions are positive with the major short haul airlines of making a return. This share looks well and truly over the worst to me.

I have been into my stockbrokers news and financial diary this evening and can see one announcement coming mid week is an update and interims from Esken. I am obviously hoping that we will see a positive outlook following the govts budget support for the Uk airport industry and those particularly involved in short haul.
Should be good for some direction and hopefully this will raise support by favourable sentiment.

Jarule, I agree with you this is a great opportunity at the price one of the few great opportunities on the LSE today. This Company was under great expansion before the pandemic and I cannot see why it would not return to form post pandemic.
I see the cargo side expansion being quite rewarding and certainly the French dispute will start with fishing boats and likely to expand to the other sea ports which may help leave options open to the UK Govt to help and encourage cargo being flown in to airports with surplus spare capacity such Southend. Short haul is being encouraged for cargo and internal pax flights by the Uk govt for a reason they must be oncoming problems with Europe, and we could help Northern Ireland.

Over 1482 people employed during 2021 by Esken in the Aviation industry -their own talk from the "official web site" is one of expansion. Certainly one of my own mates has been involved in the extension to the quite extensive warehousing and infrastructure projects going on at Southend for the past couple of years.
