It's been a long time since I paid tax in the UK. In the past, divis were income, SP appreciation when realised was capital gains. I believe taxation was different.

Not for me, I'm outside the UK. 30% on my divis.

Everyone talks their own book. I'm very honestly telling you how I'm thinking. If, over time, HBR does well, I'll do well. If it maintains it's divi, I'm sat in a comfortable seat, if it falls I'll add in order to substantially bring down my entry price (therefore increasing my % divi return). It's nothing shifty, in fact I'd say it's all pretty obvious stuff. Not sure why I've annoyed you. Bear in mind, I can't see into the future. I'm covering myself for several outcomes. Not sure where the disagreement is. 'Talking my own book' seems perjoritive, but I'm not being underhand, I don't expect to influence the SP. I'm just discussing.

Mixed feelings NAV, but I've been consistent on that view that we have a good chance of seeing 150. I have a very substantial HBR holding. It's enough to mean that I don't have to do a single thing workwise as long as their divi is held around these levels. I'm sitting on a loss on that holding, but not concerned about it. I'd consider adding substantially should the price meet my 'rules', which would mean a drop to around 150 in this case. Otherwise, I'll just take the divi. I'm confident that over time I will see capital gains, just don't know that that will be quick. I'm very trasparent and consistent in my view NAV and hope I am one of the good guys, but as you say, I'd like to see the price fall now to around 150. If it doesn't it doesn't matter to me.

Fog, don't ignore the tax angle. Divis are taxed directly, capital appreciation is taxed when you take the profit and can that can be taken over a period of time to control the tax bracket. Buybacks suit me better for the time being, assuming the shares are not held in treasury. The market cap of the company appears to be low (I think it'll get lower even to 150 area) and when it\s low the buybacks seem to make sense to me.

I guess the 29p price target note can't hurt us. I have Enq across 3 accounts for my sins. My biggest holding is at a price of 14p. I have no intention of selling any. No idea what my overall b/e price is, but I'd guess around 18p. Still not intending to sell any. 29p would be tempting though!

I think it's looking for 455, probably 435 after that and even my previous idea of 370 (that some of you pooh poohed). That is purely a TA assessment. From a fundamental viewpoint, I like EZJ and have struggled not to buy and sell a bit (I've done that). Although the comment suggesting we're trading at COVID levels is correct, there was a RI after that (Sept 9th 2021) which had the price down to 283 (ish) by Oct 2022. I assume air-travel had not fully recovered by that time. If you draw a trendline from that low, you get a 2nd touch on Mar 28th 2025 and a 3rd on Apr 7th. If that line is acting to guide buyers/sellers then the next touch, should it happen is a place worth watching price action. That would be currently be around 416 (and rising). I know it's voodoo and many don't like to hear it, but it's a view. I personally think 455 and 435 are likely and still think 370 is entirely feasible.

I looked into accessing options position sizes on stocks, but it's about 100 a month I think for the site I found. Bearing in mind my poor level of understanding at the current time I'm not convinced it's the way to go for me. Always interested in the options relative to underlying instruments and the Jane Street business in India is a great lesson in how options and underlying instruments are relevant to each other. I had looked buying options on UK stocks and couldnt'find an easy route and wondered whether it was commonly done. I got the impression that it's not the case in the UK, but maybe as you say that different for PI's and institutions. No doubt that will change with time.

Liberty, it's listed in the UK on the FTSE 250. Are there significant options on the UK listing? Or can you buy/sell options in the US on UK companies. This has always interested me and I don't understand it. The way I understood things was the options were not massively used on UK stocks?

Is that really strange Bob? A company needs access to what it needs access to when it needs access to it. By not having a group like WG in house, a company can access what it needs, when it needs it from multiple sources. That could allow saving money (competitive tendering) or not havine a business function either over stretched or under used. Is it not the case that companies that do have certain functions (think pharma for example) in house, very frequently spin them out in order to focus on core business?

The other problem with dividends is that they are taxed. For me, here in France that means I lose 30% of my dividends each year. So the company paying the dividend is paying the state, not the shareholder. Not sure what the rate in the UK is. Buybacks have the theoretical ability to raise the SP (often don't see that) or stabilise it over time. We're only taxed on that if we have capital gains and we close out. The theory of the buyback is better, sadly buybacks often do not produce capital gains and the market is littered with examples.

Did they resolve that story about 'a culture of inappropriate sexual conduct' or something similar. I've seen nothing for a while. Is it still hanging there or well and truly in the past now?

I read the results this morning and had thought the price would rise. Looked good to me. Was surprised to see it drop

If the shares were still being traded, I imagine that news would have pushed the SP up quite a bit bearing in mind that WG get roughly the equivalent of their current market cap in return for the divestment and that 135 million dollars (100 million GBP more or less) is 42% of what Sidara have offered to buy WG at (35p per share = 240 million GBP more or less). To bring in 42% of that offer with a single disposal looks very significant to me and must change the dynamics of Sidara's negotiations? Am I being naive?

That was what I was hoping to hear, but like you (by the sound of it I'm not sure). But I did move a step further and hope that if WG needed less capital injected, the details of the deal might also be renegoiated (i.e. for SH's benefit). PC was suggesting the money won't necessarily go directly to debt and the RNS itself said that it would be used for day to day company activities. I did see some positivity in todays announcement.
