RE: Vanguard6 Oct 2025 15:47
I'm not sure much value this adds, but Perplexity has this on the idea that Vanguard has 39.53% of Foxton's shares:
That claim appears to be inaccurate: public ownership data for Foxtons shows mutual funds and ETFs collectively around 39.5% of shares, but not specifically attributable to Vanguard, and detailed holder breakdowns list other large holders rather than Vanguard holding 39.53% or 118.26 million shares directly or via its funds.
What current data shows
A leading ownership snapshot lists “Mutual Funds & ETFs” at roughly 39–40% of Foxtons’ shares outstanding, but this is an aggregate category across all fund families, not a single manager such as Vanguard.
The same snapshot’s largest disclosed holders highlight names like Wellcome Trust, azValor, 3G Capital, Hosking Partners, and JPMorgan AM, with no indication that Vanguard funds collectively own c.39% of Foxtons.
SEC/13F-derived compilations for FOXT show limited U.S.-reporting institutional positions overall and do not support an aggregate Vanguard stake near 40% of the register, which would be an extraordinary concentration in a U.K. small-cap.
Still needs checking as AI doesn't always get it right.
