Si_Derman ref 12.58 post while use of the crane might be a reason for a cargo ship using SRQ I am not sure why a cruise ship would need to use a crane. Also another indicator is that as I said in my 12.31 post it would appear to be staying at least 31 days which seems a long time for a crane use.

Chrisatrdg ref 10.38 post in the absence of any other information I am going by the 6th November 2023 RNS - Contract Award. The last Cory Contract was for 10 barges with a contract value of £8.5m which equates to a unit price of £850k. I have not checked but I believe that the unit cost on the other contracts may have been slightly lower.

LSE03 ref 18.15 post an interesting read. If I am reading this correctly this work was done in H1 last year. I must have been sleeping and did not notice the RNS on this. I wonder if more work is coming on this.

There is no such connection with the asylum seekers. Also as some but not all asylum seekers are economic refugees I seriously doubt that they wouold be interested in fighting for the UK

Firstly, this would be a proposal similar to what is done for Commonwealth citizens who service in the UK military. They would need to serve for a minimum of I believe before getting citizenship. Such a proposal would need parliamentary approval. I am not sure that it would get it. Secondly, there are the issues which Kaeren raises in her 11.28 post. In addition they would need to pass the medical and from a report I saw this is one of the biggest stumbling blocks.

As was mentioned in the report from the Times I linked to earlier the issue may be that the commerical maritime sector pays better. I would therefore think a root and branch review of the pay and conditions would be a better route to go down.

ForrestGump ref 08.01 post I do not see the contract being scrapped as the FSS ships are needed. What may happen is that one may be mothballed but even that has a low probability of happening. More likely they will operate with reduced crews.

An interesting discussion in my opinion in today's times about whether there will be any interest rates cuts this year. LSE03 ref 16.21 post An interesting read HARL has two things in its favour as far as I can see. Firstly it would have recent experience of doing similar work on another FPSO. If HARL manages to do the mid life extension on the SeaRose on time and on budget then that would be a bonus. Secondly when you look at the size from this link https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/details/9736171 itb would be able to fit (just) into the main dock but not the Belfast dock. I am not sure how may other drydocks would be able to handle it.
