My view and I appreciate it is not the majority view is that HMG will provide the lion share of the funding for IM in one way or another as it is now in the national interest for IM to be built.

LSE03 ref 21.46 post I see from the BBC that OFGEM are saying that there might be a gas supply emergency with a knock on effect for electricity generators. SSE has raised concerns that they may be hit by hefty penalties if they cannot keep commitments. This shows the urgent need for more capacity.

Lottie123 ref 13.59 post I agree HARL is well positioned to capitalise on these opportunities. With the amount of fabricating capacity it has at it's disposal plus the domestic content requirements it should be able to catch a significant proportion of the fabricating work that will be needed.

I would also add that the contract on the current timetable would already have been signed by the time of the next election so they may not be able to keep this commitment without paying penalties for breach of contract.

The article is potentially misleading as it does not make it clear that the Team Resolute bid consists of three parties only one of which is not British. It is not a good idea to make commitments like this without all the facts.

Lottie123 ref 13.20 post from Friday For obvious reasons I do not normally disagree with you when it comes to fiance issues. But on this occasion I fear you may be wrong. The slide in the pound against the dollar since the Chancellor's statement on Friday has it seems to have continued overnight in the Asian markets. The pound is now approaching parity with the dollar. In these circumstances I fear some aggressive rate rises to combat inflation. Also I fear the HARL share price will test 8p because of macro economic events that will exacerbate any company specific issues.

The only things that I can see that may stop a decline are either significant contract news on fabrication contracts or the interim results this year beating market expectations.

Bubble2021 ref 21.10 post while this looks like a good announcement it raises some questions to see if it is as good as it sounds. Firstly. are we talking about new money or is it a rehashing of previous announcements about programmes? Secondly, and linked to the first is this new spending on new programmes or just bringing forward of planned projects. Thirdly, what is the spending profile that is to say will this be sent over a number of years if so how many. Fourthly. is this all just going to be spent with BAe and BAB or are we going to see genuine competition and investment in all shipbuilders. Finally how is this all going to be funded with sterling close to parity with the dollar there will be inflationary pressures which would make borrowing more expensive with a knock on effects for inflation.

In that posy you remarked amongst other things that Methil might see four contracts of varying sizes by Mid-October. As this would be before any news on the ML which we might get in December and is three weeks away, can I ask what was said that gave you that impression?

Chrisatrdg ref 16.30 post I think the SP will tread water until the interims come out. We are now seven trading days away from when they have to come out. If they do not come out by then I fear the share price will drop further.

LSE03 Thanks for these posts I wonder why do they not use a Private Act of Parliament to give them the authority to do what they need. While this may be a reserved matter that does not preclude the Westminster Parliament acting. It also has the advantage that an Act of Parliament even a private one cannot be challenged in the Courts.

Lottie123 ref 07.45 post I was wondering about the Methil Investor Event. Hopefully we will get some feedback today.

I have two concerns and is why I am still maintaining a HOLD opinion. Firstly, I get alerts from google whenever something mentioning Harland and Wolff is mentioned on the internet. For the last week or so the only mention has been about the Harland and Wolff Welders Football team. What is the PR team doing? Secondly, during the same period I have not seen anything on the Belfast Harbour website about ships coming into drydock. This is doing nothing to encourage investment or boost the share price.

Interesting appointment He takes over from Sir Stephen Lovegrove, who becomes the PM's defence industrial adviser.? I wonder what if anything it means for HARL?

I note that Ben Wallace has kept his job as Defence Secretary which I presume was his reward for backing the winner in the leadership contest. I wonder if this is good for HARL as he seemed willing to challenge BAe and BAB.
