Pokerchjps ref 12.50 post geography is not a strength but I was wondering if HARL would be in the running for some of the fabrication work as opposed to going to Asia. I note what they say about local content in the article.
RE: STENA EDDA Passenger/Ro-Ro Cargo Ship in dock20 Oct 2022 13:52
Chrisatrdg ref 11.48 post having just looked at the Belfast Harbour website it looks like Stena may be circulating some ships through Belfast as Stena Embla will replace Stena Edda in the dry dock next week.
Bubble2021 ref 11.45 post the statement from Ben Wallace is on the Ukraine the House of Commons twitter feed has updated with information on statements being made in the Commons today
RE: Big margins on government contracts20 Oct 2022 12:23
I have been in a meeting this morning but have been able to catch the posts this morning. I have not read such ill informed rubbish before on this board. It seems that some people are trying to pump the share price needlessly. To address the issues raised with some facts.
If HARL as part of Team Resolute wins the bid for the Fleet Solid Support Ships its share of the £1.67bn contract will be in the region of £600m. HARL in its recent annual report and accounts has stated that its blended margin across all markets is around 20%. This would give HARL a margin of circa £120m on the contract spread over a number of years. It has been previously stated that its order book from contracted revenues for 2023 is circa £100m this consists of £25m on the M55 contract and £15m on the Cory contract and £60m from other contracts. I am not sure where EarlofAim is getting £300m of contracts that is not a figure I recognise. I note that we have outstanding news on the refit of the Athelstone which may be factored into the £100m order book.
To ensure that we regain the fact based posting that has been the case previously that we do not speculate any firther on the FSS contract until we have something definite.
With seven trading days left after today time is running out for these contracts to be announced this month. I would ask HARL but they tend not to reply to my emails. Does anyone have any contacts that can shed light on what is happening.
Bubble2021 ref 08.45 post I have just checked the House of Commons twitter feed and there is nothing about a statement from Ben Wallace on it. What is the source of your information. If he does not make it to the House first there will be a massive row.
Chitta123 ref 08.27 post going by the twitter chat I suspect that some people are buying into HARL in anticipation of a favourable announcement. Team Resolute which includes HARL has a 50% chance of winning the bid. It is cheaper to buy into HARL than any of the other parties.
mcadder ref 18.20 post the vast majority of what the two of you post is worth reading so filtering is not appropriate. What I meant is you could just not respond that would end the issue and we can all move on.
mcadder/Speedy_Gonzalez can the two of you act like grown ups agree to disagree and move on as after two days you are starting to really starting to irritate me with your bickering.

ban4118 ref 16.41 post I recall during one of the Defence Select Committee hearings I watched this issue of investment came up. Ben Wallace pushed back against one of the MPs saying that if one of the bids is willing to invest in the shipyards another is not who should you go with. I think after this Team UK added a £90m investment commitment
RE: Fleet Solid Support Programme19 Oct 2022 17:42
My understanding is that both bids are over budget it is just that Team Resolute is less over the budget than Team UK. The other issue is political the SNP MPs on the Defence Select Committee will have a fit if Team Resolute in the bid. I will be checking the Order Paper for the MoD statement.
RE: Fleet Solid Support Programme19 Oct 2022 17:04
Just seen this on the Navy Lookout twitter feed https://twitter.com/NavyLookout/status/1582746524790198278 This increases my confidence that Team Resolute will win. While price is only 20% of the marks of the tender the bid nearest to the budget will get the most marks so the question comes as to how many marks each bid gets for the technical aspects. As I said in my response to JohnHenry's post yesterday there are deliverability issues with the Team UK bid.
Can we get back to talking about HARL and HARL related issues and stop sniping at each other. Between the overdone ramping yesterday and the sniping between posters the last two days has been rather off putting. Traditionally this board has been usually courteous I for one would like it to get back to that so we can have informed discussions.
RE: Fleet Solid Support Programme19 Oct 2022 13:25
Speedy_Gonzalez ref 11.37 post thanks for this on reading the full article it is clear that the lobbying was as I suspected for the Team UK bid. I note that the decision maker will be Ben Wallace and not Liz Truss. I am not sure that the Prime Minister can overrule the Defence Secretary if he was to go for Team Resolute.
RE: Fleet Solid Support Programme19 Oct 2022 11:23
mcadder ref 10.01 post As it specifically mentions not going to Spain the only other bidder with UK shipbuilders among the consortium members is Team UK. So as I say it could backfire.
RE: Fleet Solid Support Programme19 Oct 2022 10:26
mcadder ref 09.09 post Where is that story from? Also all this lobbying for Team UK might back fire as lobbying can lead to a bidder being disqualified. The story is also disingenuous as it fails to mention that the two other members of the Navantia consortium are British firms. I recall seeing an article which suggested that the Team UK might be the most expensive bid. If that is true then that might tip the balance in favour of Team Resolute if the two bids are close.
RE: H&W LinkedIn Post this afternoon.18 Oct 2022 18:14
Chrisatrdg ref 16.58 post interesting post but on checking the Belfast Harbour website the Lady Ellen has been in OQ since the 13 October. I presume this means that it is moving around to one of the berths.
