Interesting issue, but very much off-topic for EUA, whether being on the right moral side is same or different as being on right side of history.

seems to me, all too many instances in human history when the morally terrible, but powerful, have won permanent and total victories … e.g. chatham island & the pacifist moriori..

lol! - i do agree there used to be a few more polite posters who offered relatively well argued, on-topic material (e.g. come back, del, you are missed!) but ever since the ‘massive dividend’ and AFC report onwards, the LSE board has primarily been a tool for the pump and dump groups, with that kind of garbage swamping all the other stuff for several years — i.e. it’s not really that the chatboard has deteriorated recently, more that the more professional p&d artists have moved on to other pastures as primary focus, leaving just the dregs to keep pumping.

Some POCAs have been in place, although likely amounts in relation to number of shares at issue fairly small. (if aidan is indeed dead, not sure how the POCA order against him relates to his estate.)

Today’s pump fizzled out pretty weakly, leaving the usual rampy suspects just falling back on personal abuse, yet again. groundhog day.

Wow, unhappychimp has discovered that some pis trade small cap AIM miners/oilies, rather than just buy and hold as patient, long-term, value-based investments. ? who could ever have guessed such an awful thing!?

but too many missiles and destruction in my vicinity currently to take all this AIM share sh*t seriously currently. win or lose money on AIM, whatever, just take in proportion against the massive, utterly unforgivable civilian suffering in the world’s hot war zones currently.

… store some sand in a lock-up … every now and again, pay an ‘independent’ laboratory to re-examine the sand and hey presto, yet more valuable stuff gets found in the sand that had been mysteriously overlooked in previous years —> yay, sandpile even more valuable!!

… then wait another year when perhaps another labororatory (- or maybe just the same one, as they were so helpful last time round, for their modest fee?) will re-analyse the same sand, yet again, and yet again, discover even more amazing stuff … yay, etc.

wow, what an amazing business model; all that without actually needing to mine, produce, explore or discover, year after year … it’s almost like it’s too good to be true, eh?

11:23, gingerhippo, the auditors will act on assurances given to them by the BoD. the auditors aren’t acting as fact-checkers, company analysts, or forensic accountants, about such issues.

(if you want to see an extreme example, take a look at the history of assurances given to the auditor of ‘the bus club’ company by its sole director, darren chapman, year after year after year, and what eventually transpired regarding the valuable ‘assets’ there, lol.)
