I'll take your word for it that the test doesn't exist.
We then have to address the metaphysical problem of a test that doesn't exist having good analytical sensitivity against laboratory samples.

If so presumably the inference to be drawn is that their test is not as good as ours (affimers being better than aptamers)

I remember on the morning of the late spring fundraising this chat board was almost unanimously against it.
As it turns out most would now agree it was entirely strategically necessary (can't spell that word!!).
I think I mentioned before that often the price action seems to be inversely proportional to the mood of the board.
`Also have you noticed that the "cautious" tend to hog the board in the morning and we all get progressively more optimistic as the day goes on.
Just goes to show that corporately as a ChatBoard the prevailing sentiment means nothing. We'll all be bouncing with the right RNS.
And re the views on CEO and delay there are of course alternatives to the narrative in the ascendancy this morning.

Big Al is a great communicator. We are lucky to have him!
His failure to bring affimers to fruition over the last few years has been due to lack of resources. In any event the delay has been no longer than any small AIM biotech. Its to his credit that notwithstanding the above he has persuaded more than one bigger JV partner to fund continuing research into affimers out of their own pockets. Now there are two reasons why the above will change.
1. We have resources.
2. Due to the pandemic everyone is realising things can be done quicker. Tests needn't take 3 years. Vaccines needn't take 10 years. There is a huge culture shift happening in diagnostics and treatments before our very eyes. There is a can do attitude permeating. Al is not the only one who has in excitement over promised on timescales. So have the government and the major vaccine makers that have thus far put their heads above the parapet.
However on by far the most important area I believe Als integrity is and will be preserved. He will not allow his tests out into the market until they are fully prepared and resourced and fit for purpose. That is a strength not a weakness.

There are a myriad of other narratives in between.
Choose which one you want to go with.
You will be able quite easily to shape your preferred narrative to fit the available evidence.
Some narratives may lead to you being consumed with anxiety.
Others will fill you with expectant hope!
Whatever our preferred narrative lets be tolerant of others with different perspectives.

Standing this weekends revelations about Mologic ( does them being excited about developing with GLasgow Uni a rapid easy to use instrument free moleculat lft imply that whatever may be transferred to ODX doesn't fulfill those qualities?) and the news that Primer Design may have been a bit too slick with their marketing
I would suggest we should all sleep very easily in the knowledge that the current minor (in the scheme of things) delay is entirely justified for the good of
us shareholders
the government
the world and
our credibility as we build the foundations of a future multi national.
I am sorry but I think the above is as plain as the noses in our respective faces and that those who refuse to read the signs and continue to harp on ad nauseam about delays and houses are either being willfully obtuse or mischievious.

It seems to me however that whether or not PCR can tell the difference between Covid and someone who has been vaccinated one real difficulty with PCR is that it gives positive readouts after infectivity (maybe even post virus?) based on picking up dead virus particles.
On the matter of ODX I see Mizman has dropped a Mologic tweet "bomb" over there.
Can that be consistent with their hopes for an imminent TT of a Mologic LFT?

What I meant Wyndrum is that while every question you posed in response to my post is relevant I am not aware that anyone on this chat board can give definitive answers positively or otherwise to them.
Its easy to see how the questions can potentially be answered in a way consistent with AVCT having tendered. That's to do with the government having their eye on us and wanting our test to succeed ASAP (in accordance with asides from Shapps Hunt etc) so that validation is fast tracked. I appreciate that's not necesarily a slam dunk because it involves the exercise of common sense by the powers that be.....
My own view is that the government are likely well aware that using our test (which has of course been completed) for moonshot is a no brainer. It benefits the country and perhaps more significantly it benefits them. And if you are Dominic Cummings its a nice way to cement your parting legacy.

The video has been discussed at some length here over the last day or two but you could be forgiven for not trawling thro' the nonsense to find the nuggets.
My view. I take Al at his word.
A non invasive swab ( a centimetre up the schnozzle as opposed to naso pharyngeal) is good to catch the wave.
Saliva would be better still and there is still the hope of mark 2 LFD when its finalised and validated.
Bottom line tho' affimers have always been our real USP and they aint going away.

USOP put out an RNS this morning. I used to be in it. Not for many years though and wouldn't be again.
My point?
There is a private Board for USOP.
For many years in the teeth of one dissappointment after another they have supported each other. Over the years 3 have died and others have had personal issues. Ultimately they may still all suffer dissappointment imo.
But this morning they are bouncing!
If the LFD fails (imo very small risk) and the share price drops further I know that I will still have hope that the next big RNS is not too far away.
Because like I say I trust our CEO and I trust affimers.
When I read posts that are devoid of hope I feel sorry for the particular poster.
If we are a hope filled (while realistic) board it makes our communal journey so much easier imo.

The usual suspects will now probably make fun of Ken thereby ramming home the points he has made.

imo though although sentiment in the testing sector is temporarily subdued our shareprice understandably because of our affimer USP and undoubted prospects is stable. One reason I think is that unlike others our future prospects have never been built into our share price in any meaningful way.
The market has up till now swallowed the narrative that we don't yet have a test.
They are about to be surprised imo.

1.just because affimers are mentioned in the tender document you cant neccesarily infer a slam dunk for AVCT. Agreed but you CAN possibly infer that the Government are not ruling AVCT OUT of the tender cant you.
2.The timescales don't look likely. Completely disagree. The timescales are spot on imo.

Re testing I'm no medic and not a scientist but imo if all concerned realise the national importance of our test then speedy fast track validation surely shouldn't be a problem. There will certainly be no shortage of samples

I'm not saying we definitely are tendering but neither can we say that we definitely are not.
I seem to remember someone posting something to the effect that to comply with stage 1 of the tender process it wasn't a very high bar (I don't think for example clinical valuation was required at point of application).
Think about it.
We have a test.
Its a scalable test.
We have manufacturing resources (including - and why would we have been told this? - access to sufficient swabs).
We have the information to calculate the tender price (albeit of course that will not be disclosed)
We likely have the time to clinically validate before the roll out.
Why wouldn't we be part of the tender process?
