I cant see a bear trap, its recovered so quickly from being over-sold. theres nothing in any of the news over the last days that justifies the massive market over reaction yesterday

I bought yesterday at 1352 & 1378. I wasn't expecting to hit 1500-1600 until next week but at this rate 1500 is achievable today

I cant see the short position winning on this one, the share is recovering quicker than I expected

do you genuinely think after dropping by 40% yesterday that it wont have made a rebound to a sensible level by next Friday?

because adding onto pokerchips post they would have needed to carry out detailed stress tests covering the most extreme examples.

this share will continue to trade roughly between 3.8 and 6p until there is substantial news. I don't see 7p in the short term. thank you pearls and pokerchips, there is no situation where Debenhams will be going into administration before 2020, but I don't expect they will ever

I agree 22tmf. as far as I see it, the shorters showed their hand when the drapers article was released and will lack the power to push the sp any lower than 3.5p. And worldgoround another reason they can orchestrate the share price ranging 5 to 10 percent on an almost daily basis is good old greed. People on here waiting 3p flat to buy will still be waiting when they've started the rise again above 4p

MA has done everything possible to try and get himself around the table to refinance Debenhams assets and when you look at where they were last summer he's done the best he could do, but Debenhams have locked him out. Now the banks will get to do what Ashley wanted to do and refinance the business and make a load of money in the process

That is my point though. Mike Ashley is not going to just roll over. there would be no other reason for deliberately driving the share price down. He wants to take ownership of Debenhams at a cut price which would give him a powerful position to negotiate with landlords, but at the moment Debenhams have other options. I think Debenhams assets are being undervalued on this board and they will give Debenhams the ability to refinance and time to implement the business plan revealed in October. having said that though I still think Sergio is weak as a boss and Debenhams could be in a much better position.

Don't think he's that aggressive haha! He was a one man army beating the share price down before Christmas. in every press conference he mentioned Debenhams and then pulls the 40 mil stunt. He wont want to lose a penny

smartie I genuinely think he wouldn't have needed to be a magician to produce decent, or at least average trading figures for this year. Sergio's words in the annual report "we have learnt from the mistakes of last year"! they had a budget for a TV advertisement campaign and invested in a new product range and still dire. Look at the timeline and figures since he has taken over and how sentiment has changed towards Debenhams. If we had achieved a decent, not great, but mediocre Christmas trading result it would have put debenhmas on a much better footing

the real issue is Sergio! you can give him the benefit of the doubt with the first Christmas, but two dire sets of Christmas trading results is inexcusable. His leadership is poor, he fails to inspire confidence in investors and he lacks the experience in bricks and mortar trading, which he has conclusively proved. It wasn't dire Christmas trading for all retailers
